Whenever I book on Hertz.com, I get a confirmation e-mail with all the details of my reservation, including the estimated charge for my rental, right down to the penny, including the deduction for any applicable coupons. Barring any extraordinary charges, this figure is usually 100% correct, and is correct directly from the roving guy's mobile printer.
The exception is when I rent from YYZ, where coupon #924932 never gets applied correctly by the roving check-in guy, and upon talking to the counter clerk, always gets applied post-tax, so that I get charged tax on the full amount of the rental, then just get a straight 1-day off on the back end, in contrast with the hertz.com estimate, which applies the discount on a pre-tax basis.
All my other hertz experiences show me that they apply coupons pre-tax, so I think it may be a Canadian thing? Either hertz.com is programmed wrong or the staff at Hertz YYZ is applying the coupon wrong, as far as I can tell.
Any hints?
