I'm comparing RTW fares and wondering, in general, if OW Explorer can be had cheaper than $Alliance RTW fares. I would be traveling Business class. This is a very generic question, but I'd be interested in your thoughts. I will be making a number of RTW trips ex BAH this year, and money is a concern. Thanks.

Two carrier fares (e.g. UA-CX, UA-SAS, SQ-TW, etc.) are usually a much better deal than the alliance wide fares.

Can you advise your proposed itinerary so that best combination may be worked out.

I'm located in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. Next RTW trip will be something like this: BAH-LGW/LHR-CLT, miscellaneous routing in US, YYZ-HKG, HKG-DXB-BAH. But it doesn't have to be that routing as I'm looking at the RTW as an less expensive way to travel Business Class than simple RT Middle East-US-Middle East. That routing is based on using a OW carrier network. Believe it or not, it is less $ and more miles, etc. Having said that, I've heard from friends that using (e.g.) Emirates/United you can cut $500-$1,000 US off the OneWorld RT prices. They are doiing routing something like BAH-SIN-NRT-US-London-BAH. Believe they've also included Hawaii in that trip. Business class too. And their quoted price, ex-BAH, is $500-$1,000 less than what I can get on OW.
