Please note that I think this is to prepare for Southwest, which will also start service in May and is scheduled to announce their flights on Thursday.

ARLINGTON, Va., Feb. 14, 2005 -- US Airways announced today that it will resume daily nonstop roundtrip service between Pittsburgh and Houston George Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH), on May 8, 2005, using 72-seat Embraer 170 Regional Jets.
Whatever the reason I'm glad the flights are back since I have relatives in Houston and if I have to fly USAirways at least it can be nonstop.

Yes, hopefully this flight is back permanently versus seasonal. Why IAH was dropped was a puzzle to me. This was one location on my list which includes MSP, MKE and FRA. If we can get these flights back, I'll be much more comfortable with US/PIT. :D

how long is that flight on the RJ? Seems like one to avoid.

Probably not longer than the PHL-IAH flight, which is also flown on an E70 RJ...

Giving the hour time difference and time built in for airport delays, looks like around 2.5 hours flying time.

It's an E170, which I've found plenty comfortable for me as 6'2" (admittedly on short routes such as DCA-PIT -- haven't tried it on the longer hauls). It's a single cabin so no upgrades, but the seat pitch is adequate and there's actually room for a standard-size rollaboard in the overhead bins.
I fly primarily out of DCA/IAD and I'd much prefer an E170 nonstop from DCA-IAH than a mainline connection through CLT. I still try to avoid the real Barbie Jets (as l4pi would say) like the E145 and CRJ, however. :)

A agree with Wahooflyer that the E170 is not a rj but mostly like a mainline without F but with 2X2 seating so no middle seat ^ However the CRJ70 is a whole different story :td:
Hope this is the start of some additional flights out of PIT

No matter what, the flight will be shorter than connecting through CLT or PHL. :D

Ah. US brings back more flying at it's "unprofitable" former hub, all of 3 days before Southwest likely announces the same flying.
I laugh at the irony.

I always enjoyed connecting through PIT as opposed to phl and even clt ...now the issue is...since it is no longer a hub...what is left to connect through . Glad to see the service back

This is very good news as Austin is a common destination for me and I was using DFW (or U through ORD-ugh  ) when they cancelled IAH. Now I can switch back to IAH. BTW I'd rather have any seat on an E170 than a middle seat on any aircraft.
This nudges PIT back up to to 241 flts/day on US (from a low of 228, based on my unofficial count)
