Whatever gene women have that makes them appreciate/covet jewellery... I'm afraid it completely passed me by.
I know nothing about jewellery, and care even less about it.
However....
it looks like I'll be given an engagement ring in a couple of weeks, and as this is something that belonged to my partner's mother, that actually makes it special for me. It may mean that I will have to have it resized.
Does anybody know where the BEST place to have something like this done - certainly doesn't have to be the cheapest.
I will only be there for about 4 days.
Any inflrmation at all about what to expect would be very much appreciated.

The best jeweler I know of is downtown near the marriage license bureau, but I forget the name. A search of the phone book (superpages.com) reveals there are several jewelers called Fast Fix Jewelry. (I assume this is because they repair and resize jewelry and not because they sell drugs on the side!) One that might be near your hotel is on Maryland Parkway between Desert Inn and Flamingo. Avoid jewelers in casino hotels. Of course there will be a Yellow Pages directory in your hotel room.

Many of the jewelers in the casino hotels are owned by the same company called "The Jewelers." We have had excellent service from them. They have one outlet in The Venetian called "Venezia." I don't know if they will re-size a ring you didn't buy there but it's a very common operation. Making the ring bigger is easier than making it smaller.
