You know now that US Airways' future is looking better and better. It is truly amazing how quiet it has gotten on here. We at one point were having 5 new threads a day on the dooms day of US. Now that things are looking much better what happened to all those posters. What was really funny is that how many "NEW POSTERS" were coming out of the wood work to talk about the demise of US Airways.

Amazing how quiet it is on here and in the media now that US Airways is looking much better.

Things that make you say hmmmmmm.

Just in case you're getting nostalgic:

MY MILES!! MY BEAUTIFUL MILES!! What will happen to them? Will UA honor them? Can I transfer them to another *A carrier? What if I'm ticketed? Will another airline honor them? I'm thinking of booking at <<insert date here>> is that a good idea? They lost my luggage!! DARN SNOW! Stick a fork in them! Are you burning miles? Should you burn? A reporter wants to know.

Yep, back to the good old days. :) It was rather painful to visit this forum on some days. It is so nice not to see those "what happens to my miles if US Airways goes under" threads.

I'm about to head to ORD. I hope I make it home tonight. According to flychicago.com, many of the flights are delayed because of the weather.

that and there are no new good bonuses! the 20 anniversary one ends on 2/16/05.

Also we haven't seen any dramatic program changes recently.

LOL!!! Jumpgate that was good! Someone had once said on here that the US Airways board had the funniest people here on FT. I think that is true :)

Some of us are still here... just less to say since we've changed flying patterns. Right now, AA is offering double miles so I'm over there. Next time US has a decent bonus I'll probably be on board.

The other thing that I've noticed is the proliferation of "H" fares as the refundable options where I need to go. Since I'm required to book refundables, my business tends to go to where I can most easily score an upgrade (right now it's on AA as a Plat) - difficult to justify an $800 H-fare in coach at the back of the upgrade queue for an inferior F product when there's a YUP for $550 on AA with a superior product...

We had stimulation while detailing the disaster in PHL......but have grown tired of beating that horse that won't die!

In many cases, no news is good news. Maybe US is getting their act together. Now that the employees have been fleeced for a billion dollars, they must have confidence that the company can emerge from BK soon.

Then the real war with the LCCs can commence!

Very good! The only one you missed was, "Should I pay extra to get a paper ticket? Some reporter who never travels said we should."

You know now that US Airways' future is looking better and better.

Looking better and being better are two entirely different things. Only time will tell now. If US does survive as a LCC it will not be the airline you once loved.

More pain is probably in store before the dust settles and any airline that is still in BR for the second time can hardly be cracking the bubbly to celebrate.

And one last thing, when is US going to publish a full page ad in US Today thanking the American people for their $2.3 billion dollar bailout of the pension (and yes UA should do the same).

Probably never, since the American people don't pay for the pension bailout. The PBGC is funded by insurance premiums from companies with pensions, not tax dollars.

I am not sure that is entirely true. I belive like the FDIC and other gurantee programs that the US gov't gurantees the availablity of funds to cover pensions. I believe I have read several places that the big bailouts have taxed that fund and it will require tax payer funds to remain solvent.BTW who pays those premiums: consumers paying higher prices.

US lives by the good graces of the courts and the US citizenry. To argue that management has done a good job is to argue that bad behavior should be rewarded

The employees, especially flight crews, are really trying. Baldanza, a lightning rod for some of us, is now Spirit's problem. Dr. Bronner, master of the provocative remark at just the wrong time has apparently holstered it, and Lakefield seems an amiable lguy that the rank and file are willing to give a chance. On the other hand, nothing changes, like my Express flight Saturday, that arived 25 minutes early into Philly, couldn't get a gate, and sat there for, you guessed it, 25 minutes, with engines roaring. With only 7 of us onboard, it was already a money loser. With fuel costs through the roof, that kind of burn must have cost them a fortune. For those of us who are left, it is indeed a quiet time. We have said what we want to.

yes. things are quiet until the next fiasco. in the interim us airways is losing about 3 million dollars a day, small change compared to the 2.3 billion dollars deficit of their pension plans.

Me too! Saturday night, last flight from BDL to PHL. Twenty minutes early and sat and waited for twenty minutes. I was considering faking a heart attack so they would move us into an open gate. But, at least it was Mesa's fuel and not US'.

Afraid it is overly optimistic to say that things are looking much better. I guess if you are a glass half full person, you can rejoice that U did not liquidate in February. But all the underlying problems are still there, and this is at best a short term reprieve. If things dont start to turn around, the future still looks quite ominous.
