US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - YUL-LHR vs YUL-PHL-LGW

I've been monitoring fares for the last month, as I need to buy 4 tix to London for a trip on July 4th and return on the 26th for our holidays.
Found a fare of 1075$CAN out of YUL direct to LHR on aircanada.ca
Next step was travelocity. Found about the same fare plus a 10$CAN per tix as service fee again with AC.
Now the surprise! Travelocity also look for alternatives and it did indeed found an extremely interesting one.
YUL-PHL-LGW on US at 650$CAN. That's about 1 700$CAN savings for the 4 tix.
Now my question is to you US FF. Am I safe to buy those tix so far ahead of schedule with regards to Chapter 11 US problems?

US will still be around in July, so yes you are safe. Connecting through PHL is another matter entirely! Make sure that you allow three house between your inbound flight from YUL to make the connection in PHL. If your connection is with less time, you stand a good chance of missing the connection.

I would have three hours connections at PHL before heading to LGW. Only two hours on the way back.
Why one needs three hours to make a connection? That seems quite long!

Larry,
You should be ok. 3 hours going and 2 hours coming back you should be fine. HPTunco was suggesting that because PHL can be and is a mess with delays during the late afternoon and evening hours. But I think you will be fine. If I am not mistaken the LGW flights are one of the first to get back to PHL from Europe. You should be ok.
I would buy those tickets soon. You might want even to check the US Airways website as well. You might even get a better deal and you will still be able to credit your *A partner Air Canada if you desire.

I'm with US AIRWAYS FAN. You'll be fine, July is a-ok. Plus the connection times work out fine, and you'll still get Air Canada miles. It seems like a win-win situation for you.

As always, T, you are most correct. I'm on the LGW-PHL flight several times a year and I've walked right out of Envoy and right up to a customs agent. There's never lines from other planes and since I fly Envoy and hussle my *ss, there's never a line for me. I often am the first person to arrive, watching them all suddenly sit up straight and pay attention.

Might depend on whether you plan on carrying a lighter or matches with you. If so avoid the USA
