It still can be done. 45000 miles for Gold members.

Thanks for the quick answer. Does the 45,000 include UA RCC or can I pay $120 for that as an addon??

It's just the US clubs, and you have to pay for the RCC option.

It takes effect roughly 24 hours after miles deduction for the US clubs (just give them your DM# and photo ID), but you can't get into the UA RCC until you have a card, which they told me could be up to 4 weeks.

I realize that, but here is my problem: I am elite on US, and therefore entitled to the discount when using $ or miles. However, I just started using US, so I have no miles, but I have enough old UA miles to get the US Gold/UA 1P milage price. UA, however, will not consider my US status when applying for membership, so it is full price, and I don't fly enough to justify spending that kind of money, nor do I have the miles for it. Thanks for pointing that out though, were my situation different, I would jump on it.

I was unable to find anything about this on the US website, nor do I recall anything in the GP package they sent me last March; where did you learn this?

When I called the club number and signed up using this method about a week and a half ago.

They're very pleasant about it on the phone. All the web site says is to call if you want to use miles. Not sure why they don't publish it online.

Since I asked the question here is the offical answer: Yes you can use miles and it is 45,000 for Gold, I called this morning and they answered right away and the transaction took less then 2 minutes. If you want access to RCC clubs you must pay the $120. Hope this helps :D
