It appears that US will also be running 2xERJ from DCA to nearby Savannah on Saturdays only, starting April 9.

The SAV/HHH area is a popular vacation/second home destination for DC-area residents, so it's nice to see the new nonstops.

It's nice to see but I think US also needs to fill in a few gaps in the western US so they can get connecting traffic into these east coast destinations with increased service. Let UA codeshare do the small stuff, but places like PDX, AUS, SAT and even ABQ and SLC and kind of gaping holes for the airline.

Glad to see that the Dash 8s are going somewhere other than the desert. Quite possibly my favorite of the fleet.

Agreed...but do you mean flying expressjets from PDX to PHL/CLT? That's very very far (I don't think the range is there) and not sure if there's enough demand for mainline. Maybe a 737? Will people take two connections (UA in ORD/DEN/SFO then US in PHL/CLT/DCA)?
just curious

I think a couple A319 flights from PDX to CLT or PHL would be demanded. PDX is a city of well over 2 million people with very limited connections to the east coast. Also, PDX is less price competitive than some of the other west coast airports with the brutal competition which has lowered PHL-LAX to $178 r/t. A long range advanced purchase to PDX last summer was $363 as I remember.

Personally, I think if they were to ever open a new station in the west again, it ought to be PDX. That said, they might be content to funnel that traffic to UA.

I'd also like to see SJC, SLC and RNO, but these are, for the moment, probably better delegated to UA.

From what I remember in the Attaché magazine (before 9-11) I remember seeing PDX, AUS and San Antonio on the US Airways route map for future expansion. But right after 9-11 US Airways abandoned the cities.

It might happen in the future.
