Am not sure whether you can do it in the US but in Europe you can lease buy a new car from a manufacturer for any period over 17 days. Perhaps you could get a short term 2 month lease from a dealer?
Not that I use them for daily/weekly rentals .. I have used them for month to month to month to month rentals before.
1. They are LOCAL in many cities and not just at the airport.
2. Go into the local office nearest your HOUSE or OFFICE and talk with the manager.
3. Give them your business card .. saying you are working for XXX company and will be in the area for a long term .. and need a vehicle.
They will rent on a monthly basis.....
They will want to be paid (credit card or check) at the END of each month but they will renew you automatically. I had them bill the secretary.
When the car needs service.. call the contact .. explain it .. and they will 'swap' vehicles.
I have had VERY good luck long term (like 3-5 months in Dallas and about a year in Harrisburg PA) but never knowing how long .. explaining it will be about xxx months.
Get to KNOW the team at the office .. I have had GREAT success with Enterprise ...
Um .. I did even have to file an at-fault claim with them .. and they still continued renting to me for several months. (I backed into a sign on the passenger side of the door at the airport) ... no issue .. file the paperwork .. and here is another car! THANKS FOR YOUR BUSINESS!
FORGET about the at-airport companies .. they may have in-city locations .. but like I said Enterprise has been very good to me in the past. (One weekend I had company and needed a bigger vehicle... so they 'traded' me an Expadition for my GrandAm .. and then Monday morning traded me back and all at no cost!) I think smaller locations have that flexibility.
