I saw this program/special named on the Freddie vote. How do I get that benefit also, 2 nights credit for 1 towards requalifying is always welcome. Is there a code they gave you?

My SPG account really does say Gold now after the e-mail came this morning. I had a gazillion hotel nights last year and assume somehow they got my name as a hotel regular. I've only had six Starwood since my "regular" Sheraton raised the price and I moved across the street two years ago.

Nope. No code. All part of the same package.

This happened to me. UA made a deal with SPG. Gold status for auto-transfers to the UA program. I was furious. No one said a thing and then took 4000+ points for an expensive stay in Madrid and transfered them. I fussed - they recredited the points to SPG and said they would take the Gold status away but haven't yet. I have too many FF miles - I wanted hotel points. I couldn't believe they would let this happen without the customer having any clue.

Not the same promotion at all. I'm surprised they let you keep Gold if you opted out of Direct Deposit with United Airlines Mileage Plus. That was part of the deal all along.

Well done. Shows they do not always JUST targeted US members, as you live in Brazil. You are United 1K too as I recall? Maybe they are targeting non USA members for this.

Hope so, as my SPG Gold expires this month and I have a number of SPG stays during the month in the pipeline. :)

Doubling up on them would be neat. ^

Very good of Starwood. I have also received the same upgrade. My only stays with Starwood last year were a total of 11 nights in three trips at W Times Square. I am a UK member, maybe this is a non US targeted upgrade ?

Not complaining though.

Monday I got the offer too as a Canadian resident Air Canada SE with half a dozen SPG stays last year. I've already changed some upcoming travel from non-SPG properties to SPG hotels as a result.

I also received the upgrade and I am a US resident, so that would suggest to me that maybe this is just a random upgrade.

Like you, I'm not complaining.

I got that same thing last year and stayed enough to maintain Gold, but fell short of platinum. I'm hoping (all fingers crossed) the 2-for-1 stay shows up again this year so I can make it to the next level!

pb9997, Just a thought, but with that luck of getting gold SPG have you checked your Amex bill, you may now be a Centurion card holder as well :D

Thanks for the advice. I just checked my Amex account and found out I became an Amex Titanium member - apparently one above Centurion... :D

But I'm so humble... - who cares about elite status, anyway ?

Has anyone who got the e-mail actually received a new card?

The card probably will not be coming until about 6 weeks after you log your first stay after being notified. That's how it was done in the past anyway. YMMV.
