Starwood Preferred Guest - Quickest + Cheapest way to get 1500 starpoints

Whats the quickest + Cheapest way to get 1500 starpoints. I'm short on this amount for an award night. Should i just do a cash and points stay? Though i've heard many times on this board that it's a bad idea?

I have Amex MR points that i can use as a last resort

Buy them. 1500 points cost $75US.

Cash and Points is a great value. Does your hotel have it available for the night that you want to stay?

The only downside is that the stay won't count toward status requalification. But then an award stay won't count toward status either.
