Starwood Preferred Guest - Status Match Timing 2005

I've finally convinced a colleague of mine to switch over from Hyatt, where he's a diamond member. I remember from last year (2004) that William said all status matches after Feb. 28th would last till Feb. 2006. I was wondering if that will be the same for this current year, whereas, he should wait till the end of Feb. to request the comp.
I want to get him the maximum benefit from this one-time offer. Would appreciate anyone who may have info regarding the comp policies this year.
Starwood policy has always been that status lasts for at least 12 months. So if you request the comp in February, status will last until the following February when benefits years generally expire. But if you request status in March the following February would be less than 12 months and so status will expire the February after... i.e. the match will last for almost two full years.

Any official word from Lurker if there's a policy change this year before I go ahead and pass this info on?

Sorry. I don't mind helping where I can, but with all due respect, this seems a bit much.
If you want your friend to get an extra year of eligibility at the Platinum level, then roll the dice, but don't ask me to be party to it.
