Hilton HHonors - A List of Hilton HHonors Properties Sorted by Reward Category: The Definitive Thread

My apologies if this has been discussed before, but does anyone know of an easy way to see all Hiltons, either overall or by country, and the award category of each hotel, rather than searching by category?

Be careful with this one.

I got a virus alert when trying to download the .xls file.

This is the first time I have ever got a virus alert in about 7 years.

Could you tell me what virus it is. I keep my Norton antivirus up to date (almost daily) and it does not indicate any infection.

I have never had a confirmed virus in any of my posted files but would obviously like to know if anyone finds one.

PS. Getting a virus alert and having a file infected are two different things. Some virus software is buggy itself that way. Better safe than sorry but I would like to know if a file is infected, which virus it is and where/how it was downloaded.

Some of these false virus alerts stem from faulty software with false definitions:

"Only a few people have ever received false virus detection on our site, out of over ten million+ users each year who have downloaded from our pages. Each of these were resolved with the company producing the defective virus definition files, along with a letter of apology to both us and the person that received the false definitions. Corrected updates were immediately made by the distributor as well."

Could this just be the old standard Microsoft Office warning when an Excel file has macros? It asks you whether you trust the source of the file or want to disable macros from running.

That's what I don't understand. There shouldn't be any macros in this file so I don't know what could be triggering the warning (obviously most people don't have any trouble as this is the first error I have heard about).

I downloaded both the xls and the txt this evening, and scanned both with norton (freshly updated). No problems found. I couldn't open the xls with MS works 2000, but I was able to copy and paste the txt file into a spreadsheet with perfect results the first time. This will be very helpful as I plan my RTW in a couple of years.

Now, is there any one place that lists all the point stretchers?

I can not remember what virus it was (didnt write it down), but this is the only time in about 7 years that my virus software was set off.

It may not be a problem, but I am not downloading it, and just wanted to let you know.

Wow - Hilton Tokyo and Tokyo bay - I remember using a point strecher on these when they were still Classic (which they probably still are). Same with the Cancun Hilton... so basically Hotels (International)which are Classic and below (and thus can be redeemed for GLON 100,000 points now) but will be 175,000 points (Cat 6) seem to be:

Hilton Tokyo and Tokyo Bay
Hilton Cancun
Hawaii Resorts - since the TEEN award can be booked for 100,000 now.

Am I missing any?

I downloaded your Star Alliance lounge and HHonors files, but after it was done, when I clicked on run, it said no application associated with this file. What do I need to do to view the file? Thanks.

You need to have MS Excel installed to read Excel spreadsheets, or if you are within IBM (not sure if other companies have this), you can get an Excel reader.

Isn't the Doubletree Guest Suites Times Square in NYC also a level 6? I haven't yet had a chance to go through BlondeBomber's spreadsheet, so the question may be answered there.

I searched both the Hilton website and the forum in hope to find a compiled list of Category 1 hotel but to no success. I am currently not in a hurry to find a Hilton property to burn a few points. However, I think this will be an interesting topic for those who like to stretch their hilton points for free hotel stays. Please post in this thread the name of all the Category 1 properties you are aware of, including the city and state information.

you will be able to see all the Category 1 hotels for the entire world -- all 167 of them, starting with Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, and followed by Addison, Texas.

(Hopefully the new BBS software will be able to accomodate longer links.) I tried to make the whole link clickable but I couldn't figure out how to do it.

If you right click on Eugene's link above, you can click on Save Target As, then open the file with Excel. If you don't have Excel . . .

Is there a list of the hilton properties arranged by its reward category? The idea of checking each city and state to find this info is very tiring. I ask because a search had too many hits, but one that pique my interest. the narita hilton is only a category 1 hotel. nice to know for those MR's to Japan.

I searched Flyertalk and Hilton with no luck. I am going to Houston and want to know how to search all Hilton properties by category can I do that on the Hilton site.

ie all oppotunity then category 1,2,3,4,5,6

I called Hilton, they say you have to look at each hotel individually. In Houston that would take 15 minutes. I know somebody once said this could be done.

I don't know how to do the search at Hilton.com, but a FT'er made a fantastic excel database. I've tried to search to find the thread where she put this and have had no luck. Here is a list of the Houston properties with their category listed. Maybe someone else can direct you to the database.

Incredible spreadsheet, but now with the award levels all changed and many new properties, this sheet is dated with the select and executive levels listed. Also when they went to the new category listing many awards went up. I am not sure the levels are correct anymore.

It lists the "new" 1-6 categories AS WELL AS the old Executive, Classic, Premium etc levels. I have also included the new Opportunity level that some Hamptons now fit. It is fairly up to date but properties are being added all the time and I have updated since a major revision in February of 2004 so you should find it in relatively good nick. If you are finding LOTS of wrongly rated properties, let me know and I will ask for an even newer printout and update it again when I get the chance.

Be careful doing sorts in Excel though -- make sure you select all columns before doing a sort or things will get out of order. Better yet, do what I do and import it into Access and do all your sorts there (even more sophisticated sorts as well).

You can sort the spreadsheet in Excel--just be careful that you select all columns otherwise you CAN sort one column out of order with the rest.

You should sort by Country (Ascending), State/Prov (Ascending), and then City (Ascending) to get all the properties in SFO in right place for example.

You can also sort to find all category six or five or whatever. or do sorts for all "beach" properties.

I prefer to import this into a database like Access as it gives me even more sort options but Excel works pretty good for most basic things that people are looking for.

The "Sort" function is on the "Data" menu in Excel . . .

BTW I thought it was in the Country, State, City sort order when I posted it!

Personally I prefer autofilters. No danger of mixing up the columns and can select what gets displayed very easily.

I think ozstamps had a properly sorted version (ie alphabetical first by country, then by state/province, then by city) but just looked at the city list which seemed out of order.

ozstamps look at your Country column first, you will see all properties listed by country alphabetical first, ie Algeria, Australia etc. the by state/prov, so in oz it would be NSW, then Queensland etc.

Autofilter is useful for simple sorts or filtering but with sort you can do multiple columns like above for all records.

I was searching for a list of Hilton Hotels sorted by award redemption category and location, but could not find it anywhere on the HH website. (Especially interested in locations outside the US.)

Does any such guide exist, and if so could someone point it out!

At the moment I'm searching for each hotel by loaction and then looking at it's homepage to see the award category. Surely there must be some more optimal way to find this info...

You can do sorts by whichever column you want (make sure you select all columns or you can sort them out of order). Currently, they are sorted by Country, State/Prov, City, Property Name. The other thing is to turn on Auto Filter in Excel and enter the value you want to search for, e.g. "on" in Beach heading or "3" in 2004 Level.

Someone once posted a link to a hilton list of all their properties and points requirements. I can't seem to find it. I'm flexible in places to travel to and having a hard time navigating their site to find properties , points requirements, etc. Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

This is now about 6 months since the last major update but seems to be weathering well. As FTers become aware of category changes let me know and I will update otherwise I just add new properties as I find them and, with the assistance of others, do a global update once a year.

I've scoured the Hilton HHonors website and can't find a way to list all the hotels by category numbers. Did a search on this forum and the last reference to this question was July 2001.

So... is there a way to list all hotels by categories?

THanks from me, too. I was trying to find this yesterday.

As the spreadsheet is in Excel, the better thing than sorting the data is to use the "autofilter" function. Just click on it (Data; filter; autofilter) Then use the drop down arrows on whichever column you want to sort by. For example if you want Texas, click on the arrow in the State box and select TX. You can then further filter on city for Houston if you want. Much faster and safer than sorting.

I was trying to find the list of Hilton (& Family) Hotels worldwide with information like category, location, etc. from the Hilton website, but in vain. Can someone help me out here?

Is there anyway to see a list of properties by category? I believe this did exist at one time on the HHonors site, but no longer. The link to the spreadsheet is excellent, but that was as of May 2005 and doesn't reflect the latest categories.

Is there a good list (web query?) of cat 5 and cat 6 hotels? I'm planning a trip for this autumn and got points to burn. USA Cat 5 and Cat 6 would be of interest. I've got no destination in mind yet, this might be influcenced by the hotel I could stay at.

No, there is no list of HH properties by reward categories on Hilton's website, however, such list (http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showpost.php?p=3415438&postcount=15) DO exist on FT.

There is also a list (sorted by country then state then city) in the Hilton family hotel index sticky thread.

Just be aware that I haven't updated it for months so some categories may be out of date (maybe even Hilton's June lists?). It serves as a good sorting tool and finding spots on a beach too but remember Hilton still has the last word on the actual category--go to the individual property to confirm its current ranking.

A FF friend who alas isn't an FT'er was complaing the other day how he wanted a list of all properties by catagory and the website was too much of a hassle.

Your spreadsheet will have this auditor friend drooling. ^ :D

Thanks for the thanks -- good to know it is being used. I certainly use it and don't understand why Hilton can't post something similar.


Remember to check Hilton site for latest updates. The categories do change through the year in surprising quantities as I found out in this last update:eek:

Hilton doesn't always post new properties in their "News" section either so if you see something new or a change, send me a message . . .

While I was impressed that Hilton has finally added the ability to search for hotel rewards by hotel category:

I was disappointed that the "Opportunity hotels" link on this page seems to malfunction. I searched every state, and could not find a single hotel in this category using the search engine, but know of at least 3 hotels personally that fall in the category. :(

A few more changes. Can't update category 1 and 2 (except non-USA) as there is a problem with displaying properties right now. I emailed Hilton and they said they are working on it:

Hi,

When I do searches by state by reward category, e.g. Category 2,Icannot see all the hotels. For example if I search Alabama-USA in Category 2,it says it found 31 hotels but it only displays 8 on the first page, 8 on the second page and 1 on the last page for a total of 17.It seems that something is missing at the bottom of each page. Is my browser set incorrectly or does the HHonors site have issues with this?

This is definitely not an inclusive list. I know of a few opportunity hotels that did not appear in the search.

And what is up with 2003?

Patrick, I have edited my link in #45 to take out Canada & start with all Opportunity hotels. Either way, I see no mention of 2003. Indeed, some hotels that I know were Opp. back then are not on the list in the link because they are Opp. no more.
If U know some present-day Opp. hotels that don't appear there, please start a list or provide a better link.

The search feature does not show all the hotels on each page. It shows 49 Opportunity properties in total found but can only display about 36 since the bottom of each page gets cut off (see previous email to HHONORS).

Anyway, this is the USA listing in city and state order (there are others in Poland and Mexico). Let me know if you are aware of any others:
