Southwest Rapid Rewards - Will there be special introductory rates for PIT flights

It seemed like SWA offered $29 rates for some routes when they begun flying to Philly. Wondered if anyone has heard of any special promotions to mark SWA presence into Pittsburgh.

Fares and schedules for PHL were announced in February for a May launch last year. PIT is also scheduled to open in May so I would look for details somtime around the middle of next month.

I'm guessing PIT fares and schedules will be announced at the same time the schedule is extended beyond June 6. My guess/expectation is the schedule will be extended, PIT info announced, on Thursday, February 10.

I would expect some low introductory fares, certainly $39 and perhaps $34 or maybe even $29.

I'm curious if Southwest will fly PHL-PIT. The route has a history of low-fare competition. Every single time the carrier has left within a year or so. It has a die-hard US following.

"Southwest Airlines Chief Executive Officer Gary Kelly will be in Pittsburgh Feb. 17 to announce fares and the cities the carrier will serve from Pittsburgh International Airport when it starts operations in May. Southwest is expected to start with 10 to 15 flights a day from Pittsburgh to four to six destinations. One likely destination is Chicago's Midway Airport"

Looks like Feb 17 will be the day the schedule is extended.

I'm a WN newbie and have read all the FAQ posts about the schedule and what not, but how did the two of you that predicted when the schedule would be extended derive your predictions?

For reasons unknown, the schedule tends to open on a Thursday morning around 1030 AM Central Time. Since WN is making the PIT announcement on a Thursday, I put 2 and 2 together.

I guess we'll be due for an announcement about the extension or not of the online booking bonus. Shall we expect the 17th to bring at least a trifecta of announcements?

RR bonus extensions are not coordinated. They appear to be announced at random times, whenever one side within SWA has finally beaten the other into submission. ;)

I guess the good side got a pretty bad beatdown a little over a year ago then. Hopefully the good guys have recovered and are fighting for our bonus credits. :D
