Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - How to get to HKG-FLL?
I'm planning to going to FLL to meet with a possible business partner in March (cheap fares).
Now my question is should I fly from HKG-LAX-FLL or HKG-JFK-FLL?
There is a little price different but I get more miles flying to JKF. So is it worth to live in Cattle Class for 15 hrs in my life?
Or fly the long AA domestic from LAX? Or is there any other sugestion to get the most QF points on other routes on a ticket?
Cheers.

I'd choose LAX. The fewer hours in the back of the plane, the better. Also, there are no AA flights from JFK-FLL; you'd either need to fly LGA-FLL or JFK-MIA.
However, if you could get a HKG-JFK fare that's a few hundred $$ less than HKG-FLL, you could take CX to JFK and then JetBlue JFK-FLL.
I've flown HKG-JFK-MIA twice and HKG-LAX-MIA several times. I would take LAX anyday. The 15-16 hours in Y is tough. Also I prefer leaving HKG late in the evening so I can sleep and the HKG-JFK leaves in the morning.

Flying via NRT might be your best bet in terms of maximizing QF status earning and comfort in coach. You could route AKL-NRT-DFW-FLL or ORD or SJC or LAX or JFK -- lots of choices. Fare may be cheaper as AA often has some specials for NRT this time of the year (lots of empty seats on all those flights). Unlike HKG or SYD which are packed trans-pacific.

AKL??? :)
I think you meant HKG, ad if that's the case I would agree. Take CX to NRT and try AA in row 31 (A,B or H,J) to ORD or DFW. from there it's a 2 hour flight to FLL. Most of the AA trips will still be done with MRTC.

I disagree for 2 different reasons. Your comfort on CX will be greater than with any other airline, so go to JFK. From there, grab a clean, affordable LCC, JetBlue to Florida if the connections work. Compare with Song.
I'd like to tell you more about fare structures from Asia to USA but Guy Betsy is better at it than I am but he's not here...

So, according to you, CX seat pitch of 32" and seat width of 17.5 inches is more comfortable than AA's 34-35" seat pitch and 18.2 inch seat width?

I'd go through JFK. LAX-HKG and JFK-HKG are similar flight durations (within one hour if memory serves) so going via JFK should mean less time on the plane on the way home.

Not true. The HKG-JFK flight is 3 hrs 20min longer than HKG-LAX.

Jane's Addiction is saying that it'd be faster flying home via JFK. Not the outbound.
Also, while HKG->LAX->FLL has a shorter flight time than HKG->JFK->FLL, keep in mind that since CX880 arrives LAX at 7:50p, there's at least a 4 hour wait for the red eye to FLL, for a total journey time of 21hr 5min. If ones arrives 1pm at JFK on CX830, one can take the 3:40 Jetblue, and arrives 6:40pm, for a total journey time of 21hr 25min. Basically the same as via LAX.
[CX 882 arrives LAX 12:25pm, but no non-stop to FLL until the red-eye. One can probably connect through DFW, but adds a stop, arrives at past mid-night, and still takes the same ~21 hours.]
Coming back, FLL->JFK->HKG via Jetblue takes 21hr 15min. While going through LAX takes at least 24hrs.
So, while one may "feel" he/she takes the shorter route via LAX, it's actually as fast or faster going through JFK and connects to Jetblue.
I stand corrected.
I was focusing on the fact that the original poster was asking about the HKG-FLL leg and and so HKG-JFK takes 3hrs 20mins longer than HKG-LAX which means the JFK leg is a less pleasant flight.
Indeed as Jane's Addiction pointed out, on the return, JFK-HKG does not take that much longer than LAX-HKG.
Thanks everyone. I'll keep in this in mind when I book. I think either long Int Vs Long US Domestic.
I'll look up QF for which airport is better.

Well I wouldn't really book two separate tickets for this trip. Given that there might be a slight chance that the flight on CX for HKG-JFK might get delay or vice verse that Jetblue FLL-JFK might get delayed. In these cases, you won't be protected for your onward connections. Just a few thoughts!
Or you could just fly into Miami as well. The airports are only 15 miles apart :)
Waaa, I'll do a flying plan as to do a return ticket to Hong Kong or do a round trip to NZ/Aust on a open Jaw ticket. haha. Now thats would be fun. Instead of just doing business.
