Hi board!
What´s your oppinion about "Rain" at the Palms ? The reviews I found where hot but just wanted to know how my FT-friends think about it. You never can go wrong with that ;) Any chance of avoiding the 1 - 2 hrs wait to get in ? OK, forget about the annual VIP membeship !

Rain is a pretty cool club--with flamethrowers thrown in. We snuck into the top-level tables-only area, and it was great. Definitely worth going one time for a $20 cover, but I'm not sure if I would go back.

If you go on a Thursday night, you can get in for free by registering for their mailing list (http://www.n9negroup.com/http_docs/guest/register.asp). We went on a Thursday night (when the rodeo was in town), and it was absolutely packed.

Otherwise, playing $25+/hand backjack for a few hours might score you some VIP passes.

I didn't think too much of it...It was overly crowded and way too loud (and I like crowds and loud music)...Definitely many more men there than women (not the ratio this FTer was looking for), but the fire was pretty cool (albeit HOT, you do actually get a blast of heat when those puppies go off). I don't play there, so nothing to do but wait to get in for us...If I do go back, will definitely play some bigger-stakes BJ to try to get out of having to wait.

The line was very disorganized, not even a line, just a mass of people in a big clusterf***, all trying to vie for the bouncer's attention...I flashed a $50 to the bouncer for 4 of us to get past the velvet rope, but he didn't look twice...Finally got to $150 after my C-note and $50 thrown in from my cheap friends (I was 'up' that weekend, must say, hence the $100), and we got right through. (NOTHING there was subtle as it is at other clubs trying to bribe your way in...Everyone was flashing various bills, waving them at the bouncer). We'd probably still be standing there if it wasn't for the $. It was a bachelor party weekend, so no females with us, but if you come with some beautiful babies, it will surely help you get through if you don't want to grease the bouncer.

And don't think that the passes that the taxi drivers have are anything special...We had those which cost us $10 each from the driver...We didn't get burned or anything, because it did get us $10 off admission, but they do absolutely no good for getting in any quicker as the driver had us believe his passes would have.

...This was about 2 years ago...Things may be altogether different these days, dunno...Haven't been in any rush to go back. I've become a fan of Studio 54 at the MGM. $100 to the bouncer gets you in right away, (in organized fashion), got us a VIP table with stunning and efficient wait staff...Plus we got access to the upstairs area with free munchies, although we didn't partake. I did have my buxom best chick-friend with me, which didn't hurt the cause any. Just as 'happening' as Rain, better layout, I think, and treated much better...

Can someone advise where the Club Rain is located at the Plalms. I know the Ghostbar is on about the 55th floor, is Rain up there also?

I used to go there often when it first opened, it was the place. But I'd say within the last 12-18 months it lost a lot of lustre, quality of people waaayy down. It's still fun in the summer when the pool area is open though. As far as avoiding the line, you have the $ to the gorilla at the door option or just show up a little later, say 1:00 or later and the line isn't nearly as bad once people start leaving..club's open till 5:00 so you have plenty of time to enjoy it.

Thanks for your comments, any suggestions on where the crowd is hanging now. Have you been to Ice? How about the after party places after the clubs close? Sleeps not part of my agenda.

Haven't been to Ice, can't comment on it. I don't go clubbing as much as I did (marriage will do that to you :p ) but once a month or so I'll put on my dancing shoes. After hours, you can't go wrong with Drai's, still where the strippers go after their ummm shifts are over. After-hours is a bit misleading since most clubs close at 4:00 or 5:00 to begin with. Pure is the new it club these days and it does live up to the hype.

I've always liked Tabu (more lounge than club but always fun and still very popular) and Body English is very cool (anything at the Hard Rock usually is IMO).

The scene at Rain is definitely not what it once was IMO. Try Pure at Ceasars.
