Wow. I have a trip leaving this Sat, Jan 29 with four paid tickets. Myself, SO, kid1 age 4, kid2 age 2.3.
Flt1 AS592 pdx-lax Jan29
Flt2 AS210 lax-mzt Jan29
Flt3 AS283 mzt-lax Feb06
Flt4 AS211 lax-pdx Feb06

All originally bought at same time (dec05?), one conf. code. Wife and kid1 UG with miles. This split the record into three conf. codes. One for wife and kid1, one for me, and one for kid2.

Around dec15 my status changed to MVPG. I called the MVPG reservations to have myself and kid2 waitlisted for FC.

So far so good. :)

Today, after the 72 hour mark, i check my conf code. Cool, I am showed in FC. I check kid2's record, lo' and behold, no UG. After checking the seatmap for FC and Coach, I call the Gold Reservation line. They state that the record's were not correctly attached for Flt1. They will fix it. And by the way, there is only one seat currently released for UG. And all should be well.

I check my record. I am moved back into coach sitting next to Kid2. Bottom of my record and Kid2's record show waitlisted for all four flights. No problem.

I check my record about 30 minutes later (9:30ish) and it shows I am UG'd. Kid2's record shows she is still in coach. It also shows I am no longer waitlisted for Flt3 and Flt4. I call the Gold Reservation line. They see the problem this time. I am moved back to coach with Kid2, as there is still only 1 UG seat available (seatmap shows 5 full, 7 empty). And I am put back on the waitlist. And I am assured all records are correct. I ask about how "the system" has just made my spot on the waitlist tree at the bottom. Reply, there is nothing we can do about that.

I check our records at about 11a, just to make sure all is well. They show me and Kid2 in coach. The seatmaps have not changed. BUT neither of us show waitlisted for Flt1 anymore. I call again. Ask for supervisor who looked at my record the second call. Speak with mr. anonymous. He looks at the records. He says "his" side shows us on the waitlist for Flt1. I have to take his word for it, even though "my" side (my AS 6-letter record locator) does not. I ask about my loss of position on the waitlist queue. He tells me "it is like waiting in line for a movie. you cannot have a spot up front and then have someone else come join you (my gold companion, Kid2) but you can walk back and join them in their spot." Good analogy. BUT Alaska kicked me out of my spot?!?! I had secured the position early december. After it was decided that I had no choices in the matter, we parted.

Any advice appreciated. Maybe I should try a different supervisor after shift-change. Thought I gave that trick up after leaving NWA.

Call the web help desk. I have run into a couple of angels there who have just put us straight into first when there have been screw-ups similar to those you experienced.

flytoeat, thanks for the advice. i did indeed call the web help desk. she was able to see something by the comment "it shouldn't have done that". after looking at records for me and Kid2 she put me on hold.

came back from hold telling me she was waiting for a Gold Desk Supv. Umph.

she told me what I had already repeated. very nicely though. and she told me the gold supv had looked at all "my" changes I had made today. and that they would put me back on the Flt1 waitlist.

screech. "i" did not make any changes, or request any. they were already supposed to be correct from early dec2004. and Flt1 now shows 4 seats open versus the 7 earlier. and still lost queue on the Flt3 and Flt4.

she ended the converstion by stating she would call the Gold Supv back and see what she could do.

this is where i start holding my breath
