I need a one-day rental for the DC area. I checked the website for local editions - there's one at the Capital One office in McLean, VA. I tried to book a car out of there, however it tells me "Location requires specific Corporate Discount Number" (i.e. a Capital One CDP) - if it requires a specific CDP number to rent to rent from them - then why bother publicizing the location??

No telling. I have no idea. You mean, they really only will accept a Capital One CDP?
If they will accept other CDPs, PM me.

Does Capital One have an office or HQ in that area? Capital One might have a contract with Hertz to provide that location with cars. As to why it's in their system, it's probably for Capital One folks to be able to book a car on the website.

Capital One has a corporate office (where they have the entire building with their logo on the side of it) in McLean - but I think they are headquartered out of Richmond, VA. I imagine that they do have a special contract & are only providing rental servics to Capital One customers. I tried several different CDPs & even called the #1 Gold Line - but they said they couldn't sell a car there either without a specific CDP (wouldn't say what the specific CDP is though).
