Hi board!
I know this is kind of stupid to ask but... I just got a great deal to fly out to Vegas. Iīll be there over the 4th of July weekend. I donīt have to tell you anything about the room-rates at this weekend. Well, I need a nice hotel and unfortunately it has to be cheap! Usually I stay at the Mirage. This is my first choice. If I canīt get a room there I might consider, Bellagio, Venetian, Four Seasons and Mandalay Bay. The price should be around 100 - 125 $ / night. I tried Priceline and thought I might end up at the Venetian for $99 but my bid ($125) wasnīt accepted. Cheapest room I found was on Expedia for $706 for 4 nights. Does anybody out here know where I night be lucky ? Any advise is highly appreciated.
Thanx

All of your alternative choices are decidedly a notch or two above the Mirage. If you can get a room at one of them for the price you indicated, I think you should snag it now presuming it's refundable. You then can check periodically for lower prices as the date nears, though I tend to doubt that will be the case on this weekend.

You might want to widen your search to a list of Strip 4* hotels that are comparable to the Mirage in both cost and quality. You have a large range to choose from (Treasure Island, Paris, MGM, Monte Carlo, etc, etc.) You might also want to check out the 4* Golden Nugget downtown as it probably will be cheaper than the Strip properties.

Using TravelAxe, I found Imperial Palace for an average of $75/night (including taxes). However, considering your list, this hotel is probably nowhere close to your radar.

Other 4-star hotels...

Hilton - $465.92
Treasure Island - $566.72*
Luxor - $622.39
Monte Carlo - $624.96
Bally's - $649.64 (this is a 3-star hotel, but it's pretty nice)
Aladdin - $660.54
New York New York - $672.00

Thanks to Sirecca for mentioning TI. I had accidentally left it off my hotel filter.

* - TravelAxe is a little buggy, and the website it led me to (placestostay.com) gives a higher price ($568.00).

The $99 Venetian Priceline deals rarely show up for a holiday or weekends, and usually don't show up until 7 days before check-in.

The prices you've mentioned aren't really going to match with the hotels you listed unless you happen to catch a sale or promo. Book a refundable rate now and keep checking closer to the actual date to see if any specials come available.

After searching the web over and over again, I finally booked the Mirage via the German Expedia-website for $ 704. Will be able to cancle this reservation until June 30th for a $ 15 fee. Unfortunately a little bit more than I wanted to spend but before I end up at the Venitian I can be certain to stay at the Mirage and dip into Vegasīs greatest pool :D

If anybody finds a great deal you are more than welcome to share the information ;)

The Treasure Island next door is called "Treasure Island at the Mirage." They're both MGM/Mirage properties of course, but they're also connected by a tram and I believe guests of the TI have full access to Mirage amenities. If you can get the TI for the price pseudoswede listed, the standard rooms are at least as good as those at the Mirage.

Sorry, I donīt agree with that! I stayes at The Mirage many times and it always received a 5*+ treatment. I stayed at the TI once, NEVER AGAIN !!! This was a nightmare. I even departed 2 days earlier and payed an early departure fee instead spending one more hour at this awful hotel. The managment sent me a voucher for two free nights after I complained, wich of course I never used.

Also you canīt use the Mirage pool as a TI-guest anymore. The pool is for Mirage guests only. That is one of the main reasons why I stay at The Mirage. Most of the rooms at The Mirage have been renovated recently, not at the TI.

If it's imperative that you stay on the strip I can't help you. However a few stays back I stayed at the Orleans. It was a very nice hotel, provided free shuttle service to and from the Barbary Coast on the strip and we had a great time. I would bet their prices are much lower.

I checked out the Orlean's for you. 7?1-7/4, three nights in a king deluxe with taxes 281.13.

I actually say you can't go wrong with the Barbary Coast (unless a pool is a major consideration)...I stay there 75% of the time I go to Vegas...I'm not a big player by any means, but do qualify for a suite with hottub, where I'd only get a standard room comped at other 'nicer' places. Their coffee shop phenomenal for breakfast/lunch/late-night, Michael's is a Vegas Top-5 restaurant, and Drai's is also a top-rated restaurant and probably the best after-hours club in the town. And you can go from your room to walking on the strip in less than 3 minutes...The rooms there are actually pretty nice, even though it isn't one of the fancier casinos in town.

A new site for more detailed searching is www.kayak.com.

You can use sliders to narrow your search quickly down to the $100-$125 a night you're looking for.

For 7/1-7/4 it shows no 4-star product, but some possible 3-star product includes Excalibur at $129, the previously mentioned Orleans at $81 a night, Boardwalk (I think it's run by Holiday Inn, it's between Bellagio and Monte Carlo) at $113 a night.

The Boardwalk is considered a 3-star product?

From my limited experience in the Boardwalk, I'd consider it a 2*, along with San Remo. I haven't stayed there, but I did stay at San Remo and wouldn't plan it again unless the price was really good (<$30/night) and I had a really long stay planned.
