Las Vegas - Hotel suggestions outside Las Vegas

Visiting Las Vegas mid April, driving there from Phoenix. Booked into the Venetian with family for 4 nights so will have all the excitement necessary! Would like to stay in a relaxing hotel outside Las Vegas for 2 nights beforehand with my wife..anything up to 2 hours drive away...nice pool, pleasant surroundings..any suggestions welcome.

Hyatt outside las vegas is very nice and it should not be too hot there in april.
You can probably priceline it as well

My pick would be the Avi hotel-casino 5 mi S of Laughlin, NV. It is quiet, low-key, inexpensive, has a pool, beach. Just outside LV, I would pick whatever "resort" property is coming up on biddingfortravel.com .

Laughlin is the best town within two hours of Las Vegas. There are several hotels to choose.

I second the Hyatt Regency Lake Las Vegas, though you might experience a bit of sticker shock. Although I haven't stayed overnight, I was very impressed with what I saw on a visit.

Frankly, as far as I know, there isn't much else outside of LV to get excited about for a two-night relaxing stay. I guess you could stay in a hotel/casino on the Colorado River in Laughlin, but it's not as nice as it sounds.

I vote for Laughlin. Firstly, I love water and the fact that you can walk on the riverwalk makes my day. Rooms are practically for nothing there and it's warmer than Vegas.

Hyatt Lake Las Vegas get my vote. It is a nice resort property but not too big to not get personalized service. Very nice.

I'll pile on and also vote for the Hyatt. Lake Las Vegas is very peaceful, if it were not for the casinos you would never know you are only 25 minutes from the strip. It shows up on Priceline a lot, I had 2 rooms last Christmas for $55 each. I've also gotten good packages (Golf, Spa, Kids stuff) on the Hyatt site.

We stopped to check out the Green Valley Ranch in Henderson, NV (of Discovery TV's American Casino fame) and it looked to be a nice property as well.

You can always try the Chicken Ranch...It is outside of Las Vegas, but I don't know how quiet it is. :D :D

I was just there a few days ago. It's a very nice property and obviously caters to those who want luxury outside of the strip. If I can get a decent deal I would stay there, easy.

Given your requirements I would recommend the Hyatt too. That's where I'm planning to go to get away from the strip after a week there with friends and family.

I've visted Green Valley Ranch but never stayed overnight. Nice enough, but I don't think it meets the "away from Las Vegas" requirement of the OP. It's next to a highway in the burbs.

The town of Mesquite is nice. About an hour and a half North and East of Las Vegas at the AZ border. This website will give you a little information to see if it is what you're looking for.

Nothing personal about Mesquite, but it doesn't hardly cut it for 2-hour visit let alone a 2-day one.

I'll add Ritz Carlton Lake Las Vegas to the list. They have a nice pool, mountain bikes, spa, and rates are comparable at times to the Hyatt (unless you go through Priceline).

I have heard very good things about the JW Marriott just outside of Las Vegas:
