Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Any good HKG-TPE fare for late Feb?
I am planning a trip to TPE in late Feb (after Chinese New Year) and I was wondering if there is any good fares available? It doesn't necessarily have to be CX, but CX seems to have very good frequency. However, it also seems to be more expensive than other carriers. Any suggestions/recommendations? Thanks in advance.

Although only an hour flight, the J specials are unbeatable....

You might also consider BR as they tend to be a little less expensive than CX and although the service is not up the ranks as CX, I have no problems in my past experience flying with them. Just try to avoid CI b/c of the safety record issue.

LAX. If you want frequency and time flexibity, go for CX. Another carrier to think about would be Dragon Air (KA).
The only downside that I could think of CX on this sector would be the medicore pork sandwich that they served (or used to serve) on this short hops.
I agree with rejunivated in that you should try to avoid CI because of their not-so-good safety records.

Man, that's what I call a really expensive fare, I mean TG doesn't have the best timings for their ONLY flight to TPE, leaving HKG at 20:15 LT, arriving HKG at 10:00.
Must be a Y class fare?

OK why thank you for all your kind words. firstly i am NOT a travel agent. The reason the fares I found were so expensive was because i did search Y tickets, by mistake SORR-EE geez, I never knew people could be so mean for no reason. I am sorry that I was trying to help someone out...

note BR also has the Delux Y class (similar to WT+ in BA), which were sold on par with CX B-subclass fare (ie 90 day economy)
i flew them a few times a few years ago, and i thought the serice was just as good. i also flew thei business class, both service and food were delightful. if not for my oneworld/cx loyalty, i could easily have chosen BR.
(note also BR has more of a feel of taiwanese/minnamese, while CI more generic taiwan/china feel, and CX hongkong feel -- subtle differences only)
again the issues are frequency. BR has probable 4-5 flights/day hkg-tpe. decent selection for most traveller.
but with CX, i could go to the airport, check in for my booked flight. (i am a safe player so i usually arrive 1 hour earlier, esp given the tpe traffic)
and then switch to another flight at the gate in 10 seconds! (and save me a whole hour of waiting time)

sadiq:
I apologize if my comments offended you -- I now realize you were only trying to help.
Occasionally posters on flyertalk try to exploit the community. Invitations to purchase products often come with the remark "send me an email if interested" or "PM me". My comments were not ment to hurt, hence the smiling face ( :D ). But the strange fares AND invitation to email you for further information was indicative of some business tricks we have seen around here. Please accept my apology, and do keep making helpful posts. :D

Ahem.. I believe that it was you who gave us the indication that you might be in the know as to where can get this fare...

Otherwise why would we want to email you for more info. You could have just provided us with the link on where you got that fare from. Seasoned travellers in the know would know that to get fares within asia, one must only contact local travel agents for best fares and not just use the websites available here in the USA.
As with mhtaipei, I apologise for my abrupt response.

FYI - I got these fare info from my TA in HKG.
Fares from HKG to TPE return. (which do not apply during Chinese New Year period). All fares in economy class.
TG - US$135.
JS - US$192.
KA - US$211.
BR - US$218.
NO special on CX. (typical of homebased airlines)
Must add taxes, and subject to minimum stay requirements.

Thanks for checking! What's JS? Is that non-stop? I have done a little research and found that this non-stop route is only serviced by TG, CI, BR, KA, CX, and EG. I have heard that EG is going to discontinue this route by mid-Feb.

i guess JS is some JL subsidiary.
but if GB is suspended (for reason unknown to us) he won;t be able to answer.
hkg-tpe is only 1-hr. i think all flights are direct
