Las Vegas - Valentine's Day in VegasView Full Version : Valentine's Day in Vegas jfe Jan 20, 05, 4:23 pm I am going to spend Valentine's this year in Las Vegas What restaurant would you recommend? mbstone Jan 20, 05, 4:41 pm Read the thread in this forum about the $12.50 gondola rides at the Venetian. jfe Jan 20, 05, 4:46 pm I read that thread, and posted in there. My wife wouldn't like it, she's been in the real thing ;) GDIW Jan 20, 05, 5:13 pm I am going to spend Valentine's this year in Las Vegas What restaurant would you recommend? What kind of food do you want to eat? jfe Jan 20, 05, 5:34 pm Steak, Italian, Indian, Greek, almost any kind. No seafood and definitely not Mexican ;) skofarrell Jan 20, 05, 9:52 pm If you're willing to break the bank, I think Picasso (http://www.bellagio.com/pages/din_picasso.asp) in the Bellagio is tough to beat for a romantic, one of a kind meal. Great atmosphere, and the food was terrific. You're looking at $180-200 for two (plus tip) before any wine/booze. I also like Delmonico (http://www.venetian.com/dining/dining.cfm?ID=1) in the Venetian (Steak and Gumbo!), but I have heard Craftsteak (http://www.mgmgrand.com/pages/dining.asp?link=craftsteak) in the MGM is better. jfe Jan 20, 05, 9:56 pm Well, I was looking more into the $100-$150 for both of us range. Neither one of us drinks alcohol ;) OtownJack Jan 20, 05, 10:37 pm I am going to spend Valentine's this year in Las Vegas What restaurant would you recommend? 9 at Palms. It's off-strip, and where some celebs dine. Ashlee Simpson was there the night I was. Although, I had to ask my guests who she was... (The SNL lip-syncer with ARD.) I recognized her Dad from ET... Go figure! I think our total for 5, with cocktails, wine, aps and dinner was about $450. OtownJack Jan 20, 05, 10:52 pm I am going to spend Valentine's this year in Las Vegas What restaurant would you recommend? Does your wife like LAS? To me, it isn't a very romantic place... Sin City??? Perhaps she'd like a Spa Treatment for Two, locally. Both of you get manicures, pedicures, facials and massages together... Then retire to the hot-tub in your flower-filled suite??? :p jfe Jan 20, 05, 10:58 pm Does your wife like LAS? To me, it isn't a very romantic place... Sin City??? Then retire to the hot-tub in your flower-filled suite??? :p Of course it's romantic, haven't you heard that a lot of people get married there ;) OtownJack Jan 20, 05, 11:04 pm Of course it's romantic, haven't you heard that a lot of people get married there ;) And then they go to Reno for a quick divorce... If you both like LAS, treat both of yourselves(?) to a spa treatment!!! That's romantic! Also, see if you can renew your vows at one of the chapels. I think she'd like that, too! Have a great time, send a postcard... LOL! ^ obscure2k Jan 20, 05, 11:25 pm I read that thread, and posted in there. LOL! ^ I am sure she would love to dress like Priscilla, and me, as Fat Elvis  I must not mention the divorce part, she might take me up on that  OtownJack Jan 21, 05, 12:33 am I am sure she would love to dress like Priscilla, and me, as Fat Elvis  I must not mention the divorce part, she might take me up on that  LOL! I hope you have the best Valentine's celebration! No need to send postcards, visual was fine...!!! :p GDIW Jan 21, 05, 7:20 am I would choose Michael's at Barbary Coast. It will be expensive. (oops, just noticed your price range - even without alcohol this will be $200.00 plus - I'd save for it) The food is fabulous. The service is superb. Tuxedo'd staff wait on you with table side service. The booths as well as the tables are quite private. The restaurant has been one of the best in town for decades and is quite exclusive. You will need reservations well in advance if any are still open for Valentines day. A deposit is sometimes required for a reservation. We've not paid this as we've called directly to the maitr'd for reservations and they've been on off nights. I wouldn't be surprised at a deposit requirement on Valentines day. There are many great restaurants around town that people have recommended to you and they are also very good. Michael's is just a step above with service. Have a great week-end! With your price range in mind - We also enjoy going out to Arizona Charlie's on Boulder Highway. They have a restaurant there that is excellent. Yukon Grill. You can definitely eat for about $100.00 without alcohol. Probably alot less. The food and service are more in line with a fine dining experience. Look at the menu at this website http://www.arizonacharliesboulder.com/las_vegas_steak_restaurant.html# and you will also be able to see a picture of the restaurant. I'd recommend you ask for a booth. There is also a Yukon Grill at the Decatur Arizona Charlies - it is not of the same caliber. dohvegas Jan 21, 05, 8:29 am I liked Mon Ami Gabi steakhouse at the base of the Paris. There is a good view of the Bellagio fountains, but the weather in early February may not permit outdoor seating. If there is a view from indoors it may be romantic. There were some reports of bad service, but I didn't have any problems: http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/showthread.php?t=331541 Marysunshine Jan 21, 05, 9:01 am If you're not looking for "upscale", but would like a warm, inviting restaurant with a piano player and family type friendliness, try Sergio's. It's not on the strip, I think it's on Tropicana but not sure. I made my sister a birthday dinner there for about 12 people a few years back and it was very very nice. JohnMD Jan 23, 05, 12:41 pm I have a couple of favorites: Picasso at Bellagio: Like mentioned tends to be a little expensive but well worth it when traveling with a loved one and looking for a romantic dinner. Le Cirque at Bellagio: Similar to Picasso - French and Mediterranean cuisine, which I really enjoy, and has a beautiful classy atmosphere. If you are going to "O" it is fun to have dinner here prior to the show. It plays on a circus theme. Prime at Bellagio: This place has beautiful steaks and superb atmosphere. I have been here three or four times and have enjoyed it every time. Nice wine selection and steak / meat quality is the best. Kokomos at Mirage: Possibly the best location for a restaurant. It has a very tropical feel to it but serves beautiful steaks and seafood (which you can stay away from). I hate seafood but always find the steaks and other entrees to be perfectly acceptable. Fiamma Trattoria at MGM Grand: Probably the best Italian restaurant in LV. You have got to love the atmosphere of this baby. Amazing pastas and wine selections. BUT: just a word of caution all of these restaurants will be booked solid for Valentine's Day. I checked out a few times on the on-line restaurant reservations system for MGM Mirage resorts (http://www.mgmmirage.com/dining.asp) and there wasn't a single time available. I would give them a call - or check out other resorts - but LV restaurants really book up fast. If you're an AMEX Centurion: I just call them up and bing-bang I have a reservation, never had a problem. skofarrell Jan 23, 05, 3:36 pm 100% agree with John's recommendations (still need to try Fiamma Trattoria), and the Amex Plat card's Fine Dining and Hot Plates should also help in getting in... jfe Jan 23, 05, 4:53 pm Picasso is sold out Le Cirque only has openings for 5:30 p.m. at $145 pp  dave67 Jan 23, 05, 5:08 pm The Palm in the Forum Shoppes at Ceasars Palace, is an excellent Steak House. If you want Lobster try the rosewood grill.( Excellent, but pricey) Good excellent priced Itailian food can be had at Via Venuti at the Suncosat on Ramaprt near Summerlin. The Top of the World restaurant is very romantic, as it is at the top of the Startosphere and it rotates once around every 55 minutes or so. There are many excellent restaurants outside of the hotel area also. Grab a What's On Magazine when you check in. It has a lot of good information in it. skofarrell Jan 23, 05, 9:15 pm Start working the Venetian. You pretty much can't go wrong with any of their top restaurants See: http://www.venetian.com/opentable.html and reserve online... jfe Jan 23, 05, 10:11 pm Well, a lot of places are booked, including Le Cirque So, I showed my wife what was available, and she decided that "Circo" was good enough Is it a good place? QuietLion Jan 26, 05, 7:55 pm Well, a lot of places are booked, including Le Cirque So, I showed my wife what was available, and she decided that "Circo" was good enough Is it a good place? It's not a bad place but not my favorite. The menu is unusual and it may be difficult to find something you like. A little-known good, romantic place is Isis at the Luxor. You might try that. Nob Hill at the MGM is superb and not as popular as some of the other places so perhaps they have availability. QL folashade Feb 13, 05, 12:28 pm Well, a lot of places are booked, including Le Cirque So, I showed my wife what was available, and she decided that "Circo" was good enough Is it a good place? Circo was not a favorite of mine. Charlie Palmer Steak is awesome (located at the four seasons) Pricey however Roys - Off Strip is great (customer service was very good) jfe Feb 15, 05, 10:07 pm My wife loved her meal at Circo, and my duck was delicious We were lucky as both of us liked our meals ;) |
