Las Vegas - Better Pool for Feb 20, Rio or Flamingo

Some friends and I are thinking of Vegas for President's weekend. Anyone have feedback on how the pool is at either the Rio or Flamingo? I pick these two because I can get good comps.
I hope they have waitress service; I know the weather will probably be in the high 60's. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks.

The pool complex at the Flamingo is fine for hanging out -- there are plenty of chaises, drinks service, a sort of cabana that does sandwiches during the day, and animals including penguins and flamingos in enclosures nearby -- but the Flamingo as a whole is sort of shopworn and dated, and that includes the pool area. I can't speak to the Rio's pool, but after a few Flamingo stays my wife and I will try elsewhere next time. The Mandalay Bay pool complex is very nice indeed.

Vegas is too cold for me to consider swimming in February. Most pools are closed till mid April.

The Rio website recommends you call -
Open seasonally; call 702-777-7779 for hours

The Flamingo website shows hours of 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM off season.

Agree: way too cold. Bring a sweater!

Presumably you've stayed at both properties. I am not much of a pool user but to me the only thing the Flamingo has to recommend it is location. "Shopworn" is kind. The Rio has much better facilities and a more upscale clientele.

Definitely Rio. Though since they got bought, it is not as 'high roller' friendly.

Thanks for the inputs. It was wishful thinking that poolside would be pleasant in February. I've got to wait another month or two for that.

I know both hotels pretty well. Rio does seem to offer more in terms of bars and restaurants; the rooms are certainly nicer, although I spend little time in the room. It doesn't bother me being off the strip - I find the shuttle to Harrahs convenient and usually just taxi it back.

Thanks again for the suggestions.
