Mrs. Dukeman just received her latest DM statement and it reflects her newly acheived Silver status. I copied the paragraph below where it highlights that full details of the 2005 benefits will be announced soon. Anyone have any ideas? Are they going to make big changes in their current situation?
WELCOME TO SILVER PREFERRED STATUS
Congratulations! Now, in addition to qualifying for Silver Preferred status on US Airways, you will also be recognized around the world as a Star Silver member on the other Star Alliance member airlines. Click here for details of the exclusive benefits you will enjoy now through February 28, 2005. Full details about our 2005 Preferred benefits will be announced soon. If you haven't received one already, a complete Silver Preferred membership kit, including your new card, should arrive within five weeks.

On one hand, it would be nice to know in advance of qualifying for year+1 what the benefits in year+1 will be. On the other hand, I think US is not in a position to remove Preferred benefits this year, so I would expect enhancements to the program. Maybe Golds will get Transatlantic upgrades back :D

I am so hoping that this is a typo ("...now through Feb. 28, 2005..."), and not a statement from US that it won't matter anymore after the end of next month... :)

Fear not, John. Much like a fiscal year might do so, the Dividend Miles year does not follow a calendar year. Their cycle is March 1 to the following Feb 28/29, and benefits run accordingly. Ergo, the "2005" benefits will kick in on March 1st, whatever they may be. (Glassware in FC for elite? :D )

I realized shortly after submitting this that I didn't read the statement completely:

What I should have read into the above was that from "now" until "2/28/05", the 2004 benefits apply; as EnvoyBoy states, the 2005 benefits kick in after that date.
Back into my hole...

I am waiting for this notice to come too, since I am a newly minted silver myself. Hmmm... I wonder what they'll add or subtract to the benefits...

Photog, having been in that boat before, I'd equate this with when your dad taught you to swim in the pool by slowly backing up while you were swimming towards him - every time you think you're really ready for some benefits, they slam the door on you! ;)
