US Airways Dividend Miles (Pre-FlightFund Merger) - Envoy Decrease in Meal Service SJU-PHL

I just made my usual voyage from STX to DCA and am sad to report that the meal service in Envoy Class on flight 98 from SJU-PHL was reduced. In the past you would get bread, salad, a choice of 2 entrees (usually pasta or chicken), and chocolate cake. Yesterday only a cold chicken wrap and cold pasta salad were served...from what I've seen of them I would have rather had the option to buy a meal from in flight cafe. I saw at least one person not even touch the meal and just send it back. The FA (one of the regulars) made a sarcastic (in a funny/empathetic way) "delicious isn't it?" comment. Maybe this is just due to the fact that it was a holiday (MLK day), but if this is the permanent meal situation this is a bit sad.

A week and a half earlier I had gone DCA-CLT-STX (Saturday flight) and the meal service was normal with excellent service from our FA Nancy. She was so nice, even giving us choices of red wines somehow (must've been a few leftover from a previous flight). I had to send in one of those comment cards with a raving review for her service.

Anyone know if they are still serving decent meals in Envoy for the CLT-LGW transatlantic flights? I'm flying that route next month and I'm curious.

IMHO, SJU with the A330 were never Envoy service level flights, always domestic first class service level and sold as such: the premium cabin fares are F and P. Sounds like you had a downsized meal, but your Envoy CLT-LGW trip will have Envoy service with the full scale meal.

They somewhat advertise this as "Envoy Class" as the signs by the gates in PHL when boarding this flight are the "Envoy Class" etc. To "Joe Traveller" they wouldn't know that this isn't "Envoy Class" service, although I do realize that they use the same plane (A330) for the transatlatic flights and it would be hard to switch over the verbiage. I also understand your point as the service is eligible for E-upgrade.

Either way, its disappointing to see the downsized meal after doing this route every 2-3 weeks for a year! The times we are in may dictate such action. I just wish they'd offer to sell me a good meal then as the food at SJU is the worst ANYWHERE! There are no options to find food to bring aboard short of a Dominoes in the American terminal which I rarely have time to make after getting in from STX.

Isn't that an Envoy/First class check in line?

I was on the SJU-PHL A330 flight last week and it was the same tiny, half chicken wrap. I thought it tasted fine, but far, far too little.

Yup! We noticed the same thing over New Years....always got full meal service and now it is a "snack." We got a roll but no butter. Kind of lame, but as has already been mentioned this flight has never really had "envoy" service despite that they use the 330.

I've been enjoying the service USAir has been able to provide me, but I may have to do due dilligence and check out CO as I could do DCA-EWR-SJU-STX instead of DCA-PHL-SJU-STX every two weeks relatively easily and maybe get some food (CO has unlimited upgrades too). Not saying I'd stay with them, but I'd like to see what its like as this little meal really made a big difference in a travel day that lasted 8 hours or more with very tight connections not allowing me any time to get a meal elsewhere.

Well Sean, there's always that little sports bar in the US terminal at SJU...you know, the one with the friendly waitstaff who delivers your meal in 5 minutes.....

Sorry, I couldn't resist.
