Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - Asia Miles referrals

Just got a targeted email that I can refer up to 10 people to enroll in Asia Miles. If you earn 500 Asia miles from eligible transactions from 1/17 to 4/6 will earn an entry into their drawing for one of 50 chances to win 10,000 Asia Miles. Every 5,000 miles after that, earns another entry into the drawing.

I just got the same e-mail today, I'm trying to figure out the easiest way to earn 500 points in the US, so far it seems the only option is a hotel stay.

It would be hard to sign up all of your friends to get the referral bonus, as I had planned.

Just to correct the above, the offer goes like this.

you can nominate upto 10 people. In the event that any of the people you have nominated earns 500 miles from elligible transactions, you will receive 1,500 miles as a bonus. Hence if all ten nominees earn 500 miles each you will receive 15,000 miles as bonus.

The drawing for 50 chances to win 10,000 miles is for the new nominees and not for the referee.

Offer is valid from 17/01/05 to 06/04/05

Refer 10 people (or 10 family members whom you know don't have Asia Miles accounts).

Make sure that said 10 people do this (or do it for them if they approve):

And then they get 500 miles and you get 1,500 miles for each of the 10 people referred.

The 500 Asia Miles post immediately in their account.... and you are thus assured your referral miles, right? :)

I think that you have confused two different promotions, namely e-Bay sign up promo and the Asia Miles referal promo.

On the E-bay promo, one instantly earns 500 miles just for signing up on e-Bay. If you happenned to one of the first twenty to sign up, you stand a chance of winning an additional 1,000 miles.

The referal program does not award any mile for sign up, to either the referer nor the referee. The referee has to first earn 500 elligible miles. When this is done the referer is credited 1,500 miles. This into ten times if all referee's earn the minimum 500 miles.

I have a colleague who flies tons of miles on CX annually but is too lazy to fill out an application to join Asiamiles. He won't even bother with the mileage.

If you do read the T&C of this Member-Get-Member promtion, in paragrpah four it said:

Nominee needs to earn a minimum of 500 Asia Miles through eligible transactions for referrer to earn 1,500 referrer Asia Miles. Eligible transactions are those which involve a purchase of goods or services from our partners, including conversion of reward points from financial, telecoms, hotel and petrol partners, but excluding sign-up bonus with partner websites. (emphais added).

Otherwise, it would just be too easy to gain the 15,000 miles (assuming you 'refer' 10 people) which eqautes to a round trip HKG - TPE award.

It seems the member-get-member bonus was ended on 4/6/05.

lin821: The promotion did end in early April. My latest mailings (email from Asia Miles and snail mail from MPC) didn't mention any such promo, so I think there is no member-get-member promotion at this time.

I did call and visit the website but didn't find nothing. Thought I asked the forum before I enroll my parents. They are about to fly CX in two weeks.

They posted referral bonus miles a few days ago.
