I'm looking at taking a flight from PIT - CLT - LAX in the next week.

It seems that I can take US873 (PIT - CLT) and then US47 (CLT - LAX).

However, US873 lands in CLT at around 7:30am and US47 takes off at 8:00am.

How risky is this? I noticed that the flight status said that US873 didn't arrive in CLT until after 8 today because of de-icing. It also seemed that there is a bit of a hike from the listed landing gate of US873 and boarding for US47.

I saw there are two other flights from CLT to LAX and when I was in CLT a couple of years back, it wasn't a bad airport to be stuck in .. but with all things being equal, if I have to be real lucky to make the connection, I'll look at taking the later flights.

Thanks.

Deicing put aside - CLT has great on-time percentage. And PIT does too so you wouldn't have to wory about a departure back up. AM of course better than PM. That's the first flight of the day so best OT percentage. I would do it. I do 30 min. evening connections through CLT sometimes. It's just a great airport.

PHL would be another story.

According to US the min connection time in CLT is 30 minutes. Provided your flight gets in on time it is definately do able. No time to stop in the food court but with the moving walkways definately doable.

Personally I've gone from E18 to B15 (one of the farthest possible connections on US at CLT) in about 20/25 minutes without using the moving walkways.

As long as the weather holds in PIT you should be fine with this connection.

I connected LAX-CLT-PIT tonight and had a 38 min connection time. Our LAX-CLT leg arr. in CLT 10 min late so I really only had 28 min. With onestop in the bathroom I made it only by about 5 minutes because they closed the gate almost 10 min before the scheduled departure. And all of this was in the B terminal-I did not have to change terminals. If the flts are all on time you will be fine, but I would go directly to the connecting flight. You may want to just go direct PIT-LAX. I connectd in CLT because there is no direct LAX-PIT on Saturday.

This is FT, we do not fly nonstop unless we have no other choice. :D

Most all of my ATL flights connecting in CTL have been in the 30 minute range. I have been able to make all my connections in the past. Alot of times I rush to get to the next gate and that plane is just arriving or running late.
