Qantas Frequent Flyer - Another point earning opportunity

My mother took the two brats to McDonalds for breakfast yesterday. I forgot to leave her some money to do so, so what did she do? She stuck it on the AMEX card I have given her as an additional card. I knew they did EFTPOS, I wasn't sure about Visa, but the AMEX worked.

Given how many of us are road warriers, some of us could rack up a fortune in QF points fom McD's alone (that is if we really wanted to rack up a fortune in QF points).

At Maccas 4 upgrades from regular to large will cost you much less than 5K-
but your heart might stop instead

Hey, you know me - I will take every single opportunity I can find to get a single point here and there. I don't want to be 10 points short when an award redemption opportunity just happens to pop up.

I have ben using that one for a while now! Much have alomost earned enough points for a OneWorld 35,000 miles F award I think. The Amex rewards Maximiser is getting a real workout over the school holidays. Another 75 points for bowling with 2 Mini-NM's yesterday (including the hotdog and chips ;) ).

As for point earning opportunities, I noticed that Fletcher Jones recently started advertising 1 FF point per dollar spent in store.

This gives the movie SuperSize Me a whole new meaning.

As soon as McDonald's started taking credit cards, I thought, great, now I can get miles for eating there, but then I didn't want to take up extra time each visit using a credit card for small purchases (often less than $5). So, I started buying McDonald's gift certificates in batches of 6 books ($30) at a time. That way, you only have to do a credit card transaction once in a while. I keep the certificates in my purse or glove compartment.

As a small bonus, when you buy McDonald's gift certificates and you are a Upromise member, you can enter the codes at the back of the certificate booklet at the Upromise website and you get 15 cents per $5 booklet towards college (you can enter up to six codes at a time; that's why I buy 6 books at a time and then enter them all at once). Not a lot, but it all adds up eventually.
