I would love to see B6 fly from SJC and OAK -KOA,HNL,LIH,OGG as we need another LCC to Hawaii. Why pay$700 dollars. It would be nice to go to Hawaii for $300 or less. With Direct TV I'm set. Oh and the snacks sound good. How about adding $5 to the ticket price to include hot meals?
Airbus 320 is a good a/c for Hawaii flights.

Don't expect it. The planes would have to be ETOPS certified, and equipped with vests and life boats and everything else. It is very expensive for a low yield market.

Also, adding the meals is against their business model. They have gained so much success from their current plan, that would go against everything that helped them survive the last 5 years.

Adding to this, the A-320 does not seem to be the ideal aircraft. It is a 2400 mile trek. It does not have the range of the 73NG or the A319.

And, the TVs may not work over that part of the Earth. Do they still not working flying to SJU?

Live TV can only by operated in the continental America (and Nassau). The service will not work when over an ocean for an exteneded period of time. Instead of live tv, they will let you watch their movie choice for free.

This thread is a joke. Just because WN is codesharing with ATA now people think their airline is going to fly to HNL. What's next DEN-HNL on F9 metal?
Get real people.

You can actually fly OAK-HNL consistently from <$300 r/t on North American Airlines. I've done it, and it was very comfortable.

I remeber that People Express and even America West both decided to enter the Hawaiian mkt and used 747s. It was part of rapid growth by both that killed PE and almost did the same to AWA. So B6 might do best to stay away. AS for WN its a code share and even they never entered the mkt on their own aircraft.

Seems like their planes would already have all that equipment since they fly to Puerto Rico and the D. Republic... seems to be profitable in those markets, so why not HI?
all jetblue planes are certified to fly over water for extended times.

Do you work with Jetblue? Just curious. If you do, I envy you.
I find it hard to believe that all of thier planes are certified. ETOPS only applies to planes who fly over water for 3 hours. The Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico are within 3 hours of some land and airport, so I would be surprised that they did it, unless they are planning farther destinations. (Maybe Cancun)

Actually by federal law you can pick up American based sattelite TV within X miles of the US coastline and JFK-SJU/SDQ etc goes outside that distance. Sorry but for the life of me I cannot remember how many miles it is.

None of B6's planes have an ETOPS rating.
ETOPS only applies to planes who fly over water for 3 hours.
Without an ETOPS rating, an aircraft with only two engines must be able to get to an airport where it can safely land within 60 minutes if an engine fails in-flight.
