... but then again, it occurred to me that it might not, so I'll refrain from posting it.
(Just want to make sure the Forum-Facists know that they are being heard... which is exactly what they want...).

Harold.
That comment is not called for.
Harold, I must admit I have felt embarrassed on more than one occasion when the only comment I received to a thread was a somtimes not-so-gentle post that I had posted in the wrong forum.
Now I makes jokes about it and realize that their efforts really do help keep the predictability of content in any given forum consistent. It doesn't always sit well, for there is a lot of interpretive grey zone. But I find it's easier to accept their efforts as well intentioned.
I don't want this to start a debate - I'd much rather focus on the things that are right about FT right now http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

Harold, as they say, you can choose to be part of the problem or part of the solution. Choose wisely.

This post is the perfect example of what's going on in the UA room between a dearly departed FT regular. Ignoring is the best solution.
I wonder about the legitimacy of posts by someone with the name 'Harold Bahls'...Think about it for a minute...The name, Harry, Bahls...C'mon now. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/rolleyes.gif
MBS:
Either you or "harry" have been watching to many Simpsons episodes lately! There is an offical book to the Simpsons that has capsules for all episodes, plus a list of all of the prank calls to Moe. I've always wanted to take hostage the people who announce the pages over the airport PA and spew off my list of prank names.

I agree with Harry ...
I think some folks take the whole thing too far. If someone posts something in one place, I think any comment more than "In the future topics such as this should really be posted in ..." is too much. Note I said a single forum .... SPAMMING multiple forums is a whole 'nother story.
My favorite (read "biggest pet peeve") is when folks get criticized for posting something in the Omni forum.

I think a combination of both...Considering he's had several posts, and I'm the first to catch it.
Better than the airport pagings...My company exhibits at 20-30 trade shows a year, and at most shows, our pre-ordered badge allotment greatly exceeds our needs for badges, so I just fill in the extras with Simpson-Style names (and some that they wouldn't allow in the Simpsons). Everyone ditches their own badge and fights to become 'Bea O'Problem' for a week.
This "harold" is staying out of it. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

As I replied to Nathan Detroit, it takes two hands to clap. One can not make a sound on its own.
The 'problem-solution' paradigm goes both ways.
As for 'predictability' in a forum or thread, isn't trying to uncover what we didn't know - the less predictable, the better - what we're here for?
FlyerTalk is becoming an end in itself, losing sight of its mission to encourage DISCUSSION and EXCHANGE of ideas, thoughts, and experiences. Instead, it is becoming a landscape where behaviours are being sought to be proscribed, and as a result, discussion is focusing on administrative matters rather than the purpose for which this board was established.
If those longstanding members whose recent departures will help to reduce or eliminate the contention that distracts the open exchange of ideas, then so be it. Let them lament the "good old days" amongst themselves in private e-mails and whatever private affairs they may arrange of their own accord. Quite frankly, I haven't seen much anyway in the way of truly useful and relevant input from many of them as much as I have endured reading banal comments on personal inclinations such as love of steak, gratuitous patronizing of one another ("big bruddar (sic)"), and other flotsam.
As for MBS PremEx... yawn. You say, yourself, to 'ignore' such posts, yet you go on to satirize my given name, not only ignoring your own point of view, but in contradiction to those who have implored posters to use their actual name. Your mother must be very proud of having raised such an astute individual.

No disagreement here, as I agree with Harold Bahls and Beckles in general - but I'd add that we should ALL always be respectful if not kind and refrain from incindiary type posts! Let's set a good example and be part of the solution! http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif
