I read a post a short time ago where someone mentioned that CX888/CX889 is sometimes a 346. Is this true? If so, how often does this happen? Finally, if CX888/CX889 is a 346 does it still stop at YVR?

indeed it utilize 346. About 3x per week. Cuz only 1 aircraft is utilized for HKG-YVR-JFK and back, so you can calculate the turnaround time.

Use any booking tools like the ones from www.flyaow.com/classcwt.htm and find for yourself which date is 346.

It MAY disappear because I see it used on HKG-SYD route sometime later in this year.

Additionally, the Y-class utilize the "new Y" seats. Personally I think such a huge TV (same as J-size) cause headache for Y-seat pitch of 32" (compare to 60" for J!!). I much prefer smaller size for Y-class.

There are 60 J seats on 346 which is handy to note. (ie. less chance of J->F upgrade but lots of Y->J upgrades)

There are currently 3 346s on the CX fleet. Two is required for the daily HKG-JFK-HKG nonstop. So the one left over is often deployed for various routes on different days. It is used on CX888/889 at times while it has also been used for one of the SYD flights (CX only needs one 346 to operate a HKG-SYD-HKG using this type of aicraft on a daily basis).

CX 888 was a 346 today. YVR-JFK had one in F and was about half-full in business. Y was jammed.

No - the 346 is not being used for SYD in the NH winter schedule. Since HKG-YVR-JFK cannot be flown in 24 hours the 346's are being cycled around the two JFK routes (nonstop and onestop), hence the patchy 346 coverage on the onestop.
