So I receive this email, suspiciously graphics-free but from an unknown source. I can't remember whether I actually intended to open it or just next in line while looking at the other emails, but I ended up opening it...

It looks like I've clicked on a spambot "trigger", by the looks of things... I'm quite p**sed that my email server let through an email that was flagged "SPAMROBOT" and also mad at myself for opening it, accidental or not. To make matters worse, it had this invisible button that I ended up pressing (should have deleted it as soon as I realised it was something fishy... stupid me) which had the address like http://arendakor.com/037a1fe95c2e3cdf826503c66/PXJ.html.

Either way, I'm guessing that I will begin to receive hundreds of spam a day - which is a most unwelcome change considering this email address rarely used to receive any spam at all. Arghhh.

Question: Can I use the "TERRACE-SPAMMARK" flag to my advantage? For example, can I set the filter in Outlook so that it sorts the emails that are flagged spam, to be delivered to a separate inbox? I'm worried about this email address becoming inundated with countless spam, as this is my primary address and migrating will be pretty painful. Any suggestions?

I really wouldn't worry if I were you. This was just one out of millions of spammers, and they obviously already had your address.

It will never hurt to get some kind of spam protection for Outlook.

Take a look at Cloudmark's safety bar it works with outlook and it's done a great job for me in the last month and a half I've been running it.

I wouldn't worry too much about one item, they knew who you were, and any filters you set up they would get around by changing something anyways, you need one of the spam filters that is a bit more dynamic then just plain filtering.

Thanks for the replies... I had a worst-case scenario going on in my head where my address will now be shared amongst millions of other spammers who will commence the bombardment of the junk 24/7. If it's just "restricted" to one (or even a few) spammers then I am rather relieved - compared to my original worry of the address being shared all around the globe, the former sounds positively angelic :p :p
