Hilton HHonors - Las Es?View Full Version : Las Es? nwhsd Jan 4, 05, 9:55 pm Anyone have any information about the ES-convention center in Las Vegas? Thanks! tubeman Jan 4, 05, 10:32 pm I stayed there about 1 1/2 years ago. Upgraded to a huge corner suite as a Diamond. I'm staying there this Thursday for the CES. Not sure what to expect as everything is jammed for the convention. Gary nwhsd Jan 4, 05, 11:05 pm I'll be there for CES also, scoping home media gateways and content distribution products and apps. wed -fri Thanks for the reply. bobsyouruncle Jan 5, 05, 5:03 pm Anyone have any information about the ES-convention center in Las Vegas? Thanks! I've stayed there about 4 times and it's my choice of hotels in Las Vegas. It's a great alternative to casino hotels if you aren't a gambler and are sick of the sound of slot machines. It's one of the better ES hotels which I've stayed in. The only problem I've had there is trying to get a taxi. Because its not on the strip you have to get the front desk to call and on occassion I've had to wait 20 minutes. However, both the Sands and LV convention centers are walkable from this hotel. JDiver Jan 5, 05, 5:50 pm I concur with bobsyouruncle. I generally stay at the ES - LAS Convention Center (which is a walk from either convention centre, not at it... and not far from Ruth's Chris, etc.) because it is non-gaming and very decent. Ding, ding, ka-ching! We have a winnah... ;) Points Scrounger Jan 5, 05, 6:01 pm I was given a corner suite as a Gold without my saying a thing. This property'd be my choice for being in the strip area. pamplemouse Jan 5, 05, 6:35 pm Stayed there for five nights last month. Diamond amenity was two small bottles of water and one small packet of cookies (the size/kind you get in NW clubs). Hotel was overrun with families - quite crowded as it was the holiday season. Room was typical ES - no upgrade to corner. Parking free. Ran a 'on request' car shuttle to both the CC and the strip (once an hour, no return guaranteed since it was 'on request' drop-off only). Manager's reception was OK but very crowded; included popcorn, tortilla chips, salsa/cheese/beans; mixed pretzels/crackers. Breakfast was a zoo - very crowded; ran out of various items (but we went down towards the end of the timeframe - may have been better earlier). Internet access (wired) from room - $9.95 day (noon-noon) tubeman Jan 5, 05, 8:32 pm I'll be there for CES also, scoping home media gateways and content distribution products and apps. wed -fri Thanks for the reply. Hey nwhsd, I'm looking for Home Theatre stuff as I'm going to start at the end of the month and have not finalized equipment yet. Media gateways - as in computer storage of all media (music and video)? If it is, I'm also looking at that. I'm arriving tomorrow late morning. Gary kevinjet Jan 6, 05, 9:31 am Agree w/ all comments thus far. Last Oct (on a mat run to get Diamond which I did!)...stayed at the LV ES CC 2 nights and 1 night at the LV ES near Hard Rock and preferred the LV ES CC big-time. Was HHGold at the time and the ES CC bent over backwards by giving huge corner/balcony suite and on the return stay the next day, pre-reserved a different corner suite/view for me as I casually mentioned the mat run and would return the next day. LV ES Hard-Rock area did no favors and the reception/breakfast were not as good either compared to the ES CC. Only drawback - getting in/out of the LV ES CC being under the monorail track.....traffic backs up "big time" at times to the point that you have to turn right out of the hotel towards the CC with even more traffic. coachigdon Jan 6, 05, 10:13 am Stayed there for a convention last year. Nice rooms. Relatively quiet. Decent breakfast. Nice free Happy Hour. Did not get any upgrade despite being Diamond. Walking to the South Hall is actually closer than the Hilton. They also gave free rides to the strip, although I am not sure if they do that now that the monorail is running. tubeman Jan 6, 05, 8:42 pm Gotta love HH Diamond. I had to call the Diamond desk to get me in as every hotel is s/o due to the CES. I arrived at 2:30 today to not only find my room ready, but upgraded to a suite and a welcome back note in my room. tommya Jan 7, 05, 7:20 am Another alternative for the ES CC is you are walking distance to the monorail if you want to go casinos on the strip. Stayed at both. Like the other one because it was close to the Hard Rock for night time entertainment and casino action (other side of street). Also this property had a shuttle to and from Bally's about a year ago. Caution, this may not be the case since Bally's is no longer affiliated with Hilton. |
