Cathay Pacific Asia Miles - YVR Lounge Update

The last time I visited CX's YVR lounge, rennovations had not begun yet. Reading from previous threads, the place is still currently under rennovations and won't be completed until summer. I'm hopping on board J on CX839 next friday and wondering if the process is having any effects on the availability of the usual facilities and services that we normally enjoyed other than the appearance before this all began?

I think you will be using the Plaza Lounge in YVR. This is the former CP Empress lounge location. The lounge is also the general lounge where the "public" can enter for 30 dollars, or if you hold a priority pass membership

The quality of the food in the lounge is very poor comapred to the CX lounge.

Last time I was there, all there was was a plate of Chinese fried rice that was almost gone. Alcoholic beverages were nowhere to be seen.

I was glad I had lunch at the Fairmont Airport Hotel in the Jetside Bar (which I think was nicer) before heading over the the Plaza Lounge.

Maybe I'll just have lunch at Hanami Express. At least I find their fried rice to be consistently available & flavorful. :D

Anyways that Plaza Lounge is operated by the Airport and as fakecd said, It is open to the public regardless of the class they travel on. I guess on what was was said, no one is going to have access to CX lounge until it is fully rennovated. I'll have a look at the Plaza regardless but I don't think I'll be spending too much time in there as now I realize that there is no need for me to arrive the extra hours early to enjoy lounges. But on the bright side, I'll have access to the Wing on the return journey .:rolleyes:
