The Petaling Jaya Hilton is running a special weekend promotion for locals only; and when I enquired whether I will receive HHonors points, the answer was NO. I was also informed that no stay credit will be given for the special rate.

The reservations manager stressed that rates not available on the Hilton website are not entitled to stay credit. Doesnt quite make sense to me since award stays are entitled but not special rates

As I understand it, reservations made directly with a hotel ALWAYS qualify for points and stay credit (I did not see any exceptions in the Hhonors Terms and Conditions the last time I read them). I thus think that the manager is wrong. I suspect that if you fax your folio into Hilton you will get the points and stay credit. Your situation sounds similar to the Reno Hilton, which claims to not give points on cheap stays -- but a fax to Hilton always results in them being given. Thus, unless being certain of receiving stay credit is of critical importance (such as being needed to get to Diamond or Gold) then I would run the risk -- assuming that the Locals Only rate is, as your post implies, significantly cheaper than the rate posted on Hilton.com.

Hmm, wish I had known that back in 2002 when I stayed on a Travelocity booking and they denied me points and credit. It didn't affect my status, so water under the bridge, but good to know in the future if I ever decide to stay there again.

There are always exceptions to earning points. I even recall some rates on Hilton.com where it explicitly stated that no points will be earned.

Query: just how much is that rate in US dollars?

Approx USD37 before taxes ;)

and their "normal" rate is around USD50 before taxes.

I have received points and miles for rates as low as USD28 at the Hilton Batang Ai :D

Thanks!

Now, I know why they don't want to do that. Nice way to earn Diamond on the cheap!

....but $37 isn't really that much less than the "normal" rate of $50.

Does the "normal" rate earn stay credit and points? If so, it could be worth paying the $50 instead of the $37 if you need to requalify! @:-)

As is common in many hotels, the managers really havent got a clue regarding the HH loyalty program.

I just completed a stay over New Years at the Las Vegas Hilton (as a guest of the casino) and I had to insist they put my HH number, plus National in the rental car slot.
Assistant manager mumbled that I wont get credit since my room was "paid" by the casino.

Well it posted today full points, doubled by promo and double National points ( = 500 pts) and 500 AA miles all for a $17.00 folio.

Just fax your folio to the HH service center I am pretty confident you will get full credit.

I was given an assurance by the SIN HHonors call centre that I will get my stay credit. I will check-in /check-out just to get my stay credit but I am not sure whether I will actually sleep in the room since I live just 2 miles from this property :D

Lets see whether I will also get my "double miles" ;)
