Just drove X Country and stayed *Wood the entire way and figure I would do a quick write up on each property.
SJC Sheraton Airport: Lovely staff, upgraded to club floor right away, one of the nicer Sheratons. Free alcohol. Shuttle to the airport was scheduled when I asked.
CLE Sheraton Airport: Just as good as SJC and perhaps better. Upgraded to a club floor, very modern and nice and clean. Free parking. Free internet. 3 feet from the airport. Best value of all Sheratons I have ever stayed in.
CHI W Lakeshore: Mixed...great service and lovely location. Close to the main parts of the city, and on the lake too. Upgraded to a Lakeshore view, which was nice, but the lake was frozen :( Price was more expensive than my normal Sheraton budget, but I was grabbing 3x points, so I splurged. My first W, so not sure what the rest are like. However, on top of the $150 I paid, parking was $40 extra. Almost ruined my night except for the mistaken gift of wine for a guest who had switched rooms. They told us we could keep the wine. Needless to say, the $40 parking was forgotten about rather quickly. Never received a morning paper, but did get a few coupons for a return visit.
OMA Sheraton: Old, historic hotel. Right up the road from the Old Market, which is the place to be in Omaha. The city itself is DEAD. NOTHING AT ALL unless you go to the Brewery down the road. But the hotel was not bad. Parking was $7, but there are meters everywhere if you want to save some money, depending on when you arrive and how long you stay. I got the Preferred guest room, looking onto the street. The largest Sheraton room I have stayed in. Service was friendly, but the doorman was MIA the whole time we were there. Overall, nice, but not worth the money.
DEN Sheraton West: Eh. Nice location around a lot, mall within 5 minutes drive, 2 movie theatres and a lot of restaurants (Go to Chads). Put on the PG Floor with a Christian Group who were really loud and stole my morning paper, beside the point. But the hotel was okay. Gave me weather updates for travelling through Vail and Breckenridge. Nothing special except the price. The only hotel to charge the prepaid night at the time of booking. None of the hotels usually do until I check in.
LAX Westin: $14 parking. No Gold/Platinum Check-IN. Put on the PG Floor where there is a lounge with a microwave and internet. Right down the road from the airport, but the area is bad, I used to live there. Bed was HEAVENLY, of course. No bad review, as I often see regarding this hotel, but I rarely require the attention of employees.
