bmi diamond club - No Redemption Flight Changes Without Reticketing!

Found this out yesterday and was quite shocked; I don't know how widely known it is. Apparently, not only can BD only issue tickets in the UK, apart from one affiliate in Auckland, meaning that effectively one cannot claim a ticket unless physically in the UK or NZ, but any flight changes thereafter also require reticketing.

The result of these two rules is that: 1) One cannot arrange award tickets once outside the UK (unless ex-UK registered address for DC, and they will courier); and, more irksome still, 2) One cannot change flights once outside the UK (or NZ), so changed return dates are pretty much ruled out.

I have no idea why awards require paper tickets at all, still less why any flight changes require reissue. Roll on e-tickets!

Looking on the bright side, though, I'm in SIN en route to SYD, so it's not all bad!

Alright for some. I suppose you've typed that from the SKL just to rub it in as well ;) .

Enjoy the trip.

I've managed to change a couple of BD reward tickets with stickers at the BD ticket counter

It's a kind-of watermarked sticker that they label over the flight details, with the revisions. Maybe this is a brand-new "enhancement" to the service?

I've done it at both MAN and ORD, although admittedly last year.

I had a bmi award flight in November (LHR-DUB) that was e-ticketed - they didn't even bother sending me an email confirming it !

I presume that, subject to availability, I can change the return date on an award flight (VS) prior to travel without paying/using more points ??

All the changes I have made have incurred a £20 per call change fee... although all my bookings have been *A reward tickets, and not VS etc.
