I recently stayed at the St Regis DC for a couple nights, and did not have great expectations after some reports here. Anyway Arrived on a Sunday, and checked in got an oversized room as there were no suites, which I checked ahead of time, the hotel upgraded me when I asked over the phone which was nice. Getting there I Asked about street parking was told I Was cool till 9am. Next day got a $100 ticket at 7:30am... So Asked what was up with this 9am advice. The hotel gave me free parking instead of charging $28 a day which was nice. Also had problems with the plumbing in the room. So along with the parking ticket I was not too happy my first morning at the hotel, yet the front desk had a resolution of moving my party to a nice two bedroom suite which came available. I was overall impressed, and the hotel took care of the two problems As for the parking ticket, it is nothing a handicap placard scan won't take care of ;) No snobbyness from this hotel, and if in DC again I will be back

1. Does anyone know the difference bet the suites they have?
particularly the governor, luxury, royale. They are all similar size. The front desk said they just are different fashioned but basically the same except for maybe an extra feature or 2.

2. Do all suites have butler service? On the reservations screen some do, some don't but I remember being told they all do

I was a bit underwhelmed during my last stay at the St. Regis...the room was a little tired and the hallway and my room had a faint smell of smoke despite the posting as a non-smoking floor.

However, none of the fabric or sheets in the room smelled like smoke...it was a little strange, that's all.
