I need to book an award stay using my HH points. I'm a Silver. My hubby is a Gold. I'd like to make the reservation in his name--ideally so that he gets the stay credit and we could use his benefit level???? Anyone know if this is a realistic scenario
Thanks!

This is quite simple and fully legal, as rewards are transferable.
The steps would be:
1. Gold member makes award reservation by phone. When agent asks if he would like to redeem points, say he already has certificate, or will do it online.
2. Silver member logs into her account, goes to 'Member Services', selects 'Redeem a reward', and has suitable reward certificate issued, to Gold member's benefit. The most convenient delivery form is by email, so you can print it yourself.
3. Gold member checks in with his reservation and certificate in his name from Silver member's account, getting full Gold benefits for the stay.
Note steps 1 and 2 can be done in reverse order, however getting the cert issued later is more convenient if you have a change in travel plans (no need to have cert recredited).
In the unlikely case you are planning to stay at a Scandic hotel, I do not recommend an award transfer, since they have a tendency to deduct points from the account of the person who stays, without looking at the certificate.

:-: WOW! Thanks so much for the walk-through. I very much appreciate the time you took to type out the steps for me. This will work out perfectly!
Happy New Year! :)
