There was a thread a short time ago (another area of FT) about ways to get loads of United miles by refinancing. I received (probably many of you did too) the following with my last on-line SPG statement:
1,400 Starpoints for every $10,000 financed or refinanced at closing (regularly 1,250 Starpoints per $10,000 - a 150 Starpoints bonus) with Washington Mutual Home Loans, Chase Home Finance, CitiMortgage, or Wachovia's Corporate Mortgage Services division. For eligibility, provide reservation code SPG150 at the time of registration.
2,500 Starpoints for every $10,000 financed at closing (regularly 1,250 Starpoints per $10,000 - a 1,250 Starpoints bonus) with a second mortgage Home Equity Loan or Line Of Credit from Chase Home Finance or Wachovia's Corporate Mortgage Services division. 15,000 additional bonus Starpoints when you buy AND sell your home through a participating real estate agent in the Awards For Mortgage And Real Estate program (7,500 Bonus Starpoints for each buy and/or sell transaction). That's in addition to earning 2,750 Starpoints for each $10,000 of your home's purchase and/or sale price, as well as 2,600 Bonus Starpoints for using multiple services. For eligibility, provide reservation code SPG7500 at the time of registration.
Many people garnered lots of United miles by refinancing and paying it back almost immediately - I think one guy got 175,000 for less than $150 in interest. I'll probably give this a try. Any thoughts?
