Will be spending few days in each cities and am wondering which restaurants are considered best for locals. I am not interested in French or Italian restaurants, just good suggestions of restaurants serving great Singaporean/Malaysian/Chinese food. Would be nice if they have nice decors too...

"Madam Kwan's" (located in Bangsar and KLCC) is very popular with both locals and visitors alike. Its a good introduction to Malaysian food and while its not exactly fine dining, its a good compromise between good food and a comfortable dining environment.
"Little Penang Cafe" (located in Mid Valley Megamall) serves very good Penang food in a mock "traditional coffee shop" setting albeit in a huge shopping mall. Good food but very casual set-up.
The buffet at "Paya Serai" (located at the PJ Hilton) has an excellent spread of Malay food (and also some Chinese, Indian and Western dishes though these are not as good as the Malay ones).
For Chinese food, most restaurants in the major hotels are pretty decent (except for the one at the Sheraton Imperial). For Dim Sum, the Mandarin Oriental and the Rennaisance are good choices in the city centre. Local chains like "Tai Thong" and "Overseas" are also quite good but I often find these places to be too noisy.
For Thai food, I like the food and rustic ambiance at "Tamarind Hill" (located in the suburb of Ampang) which is quite popular with locals and the expatriate community. Its sister restaurant "Tamarind Spring" serves Indo-Chinese cuisine and has a rather exotic setting.
