Hilton HHonors - The End of the Hilton Denver South-Tech Center

All,

So, I ended up one stay short for Diamond, so I decided that I would go to my favorite Mattress Run hotel last night--$53 for a full Hilton? It was cheaper than most Hampton Inns, as usual.

Anyway, when I was booking on Hilton.com, I noticed that it said "For reservations after January 1st, please cal the hotel directly..." I knew something was up. So, when I checked in last night, I asked what was going on.

It turns out that, as of January 1st, it is converting to a Radisson and will no longer be part of the Hilton chain, leaving Denver without a single mainline Hilton... just a Garden Inn, a few Doubletrees and a BUNCH of Hamptons.

Just thought everyone would want to know. Tonight and tomorrow are the last nights.

I'm now a carbon-based status form, baby. Plus, the free breakfast was nice.

I currently stay at the HI in Cherry Creek/Glendale, and it's a great HI. I've stayed at the HI in Aurora, it's kind of far away from the city if you need to be, but it's only $55/night, cheap even for a HI.

The property was more along the lines of a Radisson anyway, so it is just migrating to what it naturally is.

The Sheraton down the Interstate is a much nicer property.

If Hhonors is necessary than the HGI in Englewood also was much nicer.

The ES in downtown may be a bit pricey for you, but it is convenient to the local microbrew pubs and as with all ES's pretty good breakfast. The manager's reception though, is very tired, hasn't changed in years and is not really worth hanging around for unless you are meeting someone before hitting the brew pubs ^

Well, considering I have a rather nice home in downtown Denver, I normally don't find myself in the market for a hotel in Denver (especially downtown, since that's where I live). But, it was great for a MR. :)

Hilton DTC had a killer breakfast but it was a pretty weary property. Nevertheless it was my favorite of all the blah Hhonors offerings in Denver. I've never stayed at the DT on Quebec but I've heard surprisingly good things about it.

Any rumors of Hilton building or re-branding in Denver? You can't swing a dead MR Silver in Denver without hitting a Marriott property - maybe one of the kajillion Marriotts in town could be persuaded to re-brand.
