I've been trying to do a search on this but my dang browser keeps failing everytime I try to use the search on this site so I was hoping someone could just clarify something for me.

I rarely, if ever fly US Air -- I'm a United person myself although I have about 9,000 miles from a code share flight with Divident Miles. Today in the mail I received a certificate telling me how many exact miles I have with them and that I can trade them in for magazine subscriptions, many costnig about 1000 miles. Is this legit? I don't see why I shouldn't do this since I never fly US and the miles would just go to waste -- could I get a second opinion/voice on this please. Thank you.

I have never redeemed any DM directly through US for magazines. However, I have redeemed DM for magazines via milepoint.com. You may want to check it out if you want to redeem for magazines. The selection is pretty small, but it usually requires less points than directly through airlines (ie: CO--not sure about US). I think it's not a bad way to burn your miles if you don't have enough for award travel. Just my opinion.

Yes, these are legit. However; you can always donate these miles to the Starlight Foundation or Make-a-Wish for sick kids.

FYI, you can always credit mileage from your future US Airways and codeshare flights to your United account to avoid "orphaned" miles.
