S.P.A.M. - know merchant - find points, miles, etc.

Mypoints, Mileage malls, etc. all have nice lists of merchants that award their 'currency'. However, has somebody compiled a reverse list? Thus, if I'm about to buy something at Best Buy, I could quickly see that I can earn either x Mypoints, y WorldPerks miles or z Delta miles. Then knowing that an account is close to a reward level, that account could be used. [ Hmm. Also sounds like a great realm for spyware. It could track your mileage balances, and automatically route any online order to the appropriate promotion... And send your credit card number off to Siberia for good measure. :) ]

Hey--that would take part of the fun out of the experience if things were more automated. And then I'd have no reason to loiter around FT when I could be doing more productive things, like putting my Rome '02 pictures in the photo album, or working while at work. :D

Sure, I may miss some miles here & there but I kinda like it that way, being in control (or at least the illusion of being in control). ;)

Your musings aloud about security are also a valid point.

It's already been done. For example, FlyerTalker ANDREWCX has a website with extensive info:

http://www.andrewcram.com/frequentflyer1.html

And it's also discussed in a thread on the MilesBuzz forum started by him:

I have 4 such programs listed near the top of the Shopping page of my website, Free Frequent Flyer Miles (http://www.freefrequentflyermiles.com/index.htm). Andrew's is the best.
