Hilton HHonors - Hilton Paris Trip Reports and Reviews

I booked in a day before arrival and got a cheap leisure rate. I'm Hilton Gold and without asking I got upgraded to a large suite which has two fruit baskets and a glass of Cognac waiting in the room. And the hotel was full!!!

What's going on with Hilton these days? They are really spoiling me at every stay. I wonder what it must be like to be Diamond?

You must be one of the lucky one. I never was upgraded to any thing close to a suite at Hilton despite being a GOLD. In fact, everytime I wanted an upgrade, I'll have to fight for it.

What method of payment did you choose? Could it be relasted to your cc?

I doubt it since the room was prepared for me before I even checked in. Yes I use the Black Amex, but all that gets me is a Hilton Gold card which I had already earned from last year.

All I know is my last few Hilton stays have all been upgrades with nice amenities. In comparison my last few Starwood and Hyatt stays have been suspect even though I'm at the highest level with them. Hmmmm...

Stimpy:

Is this the Eiffel Tower location or Degaull?

Love both hotels. Hate the staff at Tower, and have had many problems there. Always a suite at the airport, never at the Tower. Although we had a room with great view on New Years Eve this year.

Just curious.

This was the Eiffel. The staff there was excellent to me. Check-in was good and the concierge spent a lot of time helping me DHL a package back to the U.S.

We stayed at the Milan Hilton on a award stay.
We ended up in the penthouse suite and could of had dinner for 8 in the dining room. The living room would seat 12 with no problem.
All in all, the Europe properties are great.

I've always received the best of rooms when staying here, either as a Gold or in the old days of the Hilton Club. Had a top floor room with a great view of the Palais de Chaillot and Eiffel Tour one Bastille Day weekend a few years back, and the same goodies you did along with a half bottle of champagne each day when I returned to the room (Hilton Club days). None of these stays were at full rates, and the superb room on Bastille Day was on a free Air Canada award (when there were such things).

Arrived at the Paris Hilton on August 22 for a (highly) paid stay, but clubroom access for Gold status was denied. The HHonors receptionist said that they did not participate in the program because the clubroom was small and exclusive ( meaning, I suppose, not for HHonors Gold and other riff-raff ). You should probably avoid this hotel if you would be disappointed when the upgrade is refused. It does no good to show them the Hilton brochure laying out the Gold and Diamond benefits.

It might be better for Hilton to advertise these Gold card benefits as available at "participating hotels" rather than imply that they are available at all Hiltons.

It is no longer a Hilton. Be glad you got points.

mileageslave -- Paris Las Vegas is no longer a Hilton, indeed. It's a part of Park Place Entertainment owned casinos. But FWIW, I've been upgraded there to a nice room with a great view (no Clubroom access though, didn't even know they had one), and points posted within 48 hours from the check-out time.

I assumed that mileage slave is speaking of the Hilton in Paris, France - spitting distance from the Eiffel Tower. I stayed at the Paris Hilton in Feb., and the Paris Las Vegas in March. I was treated much better as Hilton Gold in France. I was given access to the lounge for breakfast, and was given a lovely (small) box of chocolates. On the other hand, the Paris Las Vegas told me that they only gave some benefits to those who are Hilton Diamond.

mileageslave -- Thanks for your clarification, I do apologize for the misunderstanding.

Please be aware that your Gold VIP benefits do not necessarily provide for a free breakfast or Club access at Hiltons outside the US.

Here's from the horse's mouth: (http://www.hilton.com/en/hhonors/benefits/levels.jhtml)

"At Hilton hotels outside the U.S. with Executive Floors, Gold VIPs will be provided with a guest room on the Executive Floor, whenever possible. In cases when there are no Executive Floors or where Executive Floor accommodations have been fully booked, Gold VIP members will be offered a complimentary continental breakfast each morning or an alternative special amenity."

I had a not-so-great experience there as a Gold earlier this year. Was put on hhonors floor, but no view of the Tower!!!!

I'm going to try to get back there early next year as a diamond to see if that makes a difference...

I am Gold and have stayed at this hotel several times (most recently 6 months ago), both with points and as a paid guest, and have always received a free breakfast and usually have received an upgraded room with a balcony and a view of the Tower. By the way, the concierge staff, particularly Armel, is great. They have arranged, from the States, by email, restaurant reservations and a massage for a friend who ran the Paris Marathon. It is not the Ritz, but it is a fine hotel.

I had a mixed response when I stayed there last Jan. "the lounge is small so we limit the people" but did get a HHonors room with a view and after a couple of requests, free breakfast. I think they had executive rooms but didn't want to release them.

I've always been treated very well here. On a Bastille Day week stay, we got top floor Eiffel Tower view. Many similar "upgrades" from basic and discounted rate stays over the years. One time, my wife and I complained about the noise from guests down the hall. Next thing we knew, the management had evicted a shiek and his entire harem! At some properties, I can well understand their desire to keep top dollar rooms and floor exclusive. Goes against American egalitarianism, but France is not America.

This thread reminded me of the time I called Hilton to make a reservation at the Paris Hilton and the reservationist thought I was asking for - Paris, Las Vegas. Paris Las Vegas, huh? I got a good laugh out of it but decided to call back, I was a little worried about having a reservationist think that there was really such a place.

I used a 150k hilton VIP Award last June at the Paris Hilton.

The Hotel does not have up to date HVAC and the rooms facing the Eiffel Tower receive the afternoon sun and can still be about 95 degrees at midnight.

I explained this problem the first night I was there and they offered to "send someone up to look at it" this happened for 3 days. I called HHonors diamond desk in Dallas from Paris and they said they would look into the matter.

The hotel later admitted that the A/C did not work.

I received a letter from the GM offering one free night (expiring March 2002) which is meaningless given the cost of traveling to paris to take advantage of the "Free" night.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone staying in paris during warm weather.

It's probaly a great hotel in the late fall early spring.

If it was broken, do you not think that they are likely to have fixed it in the 10 months that have elapsed since you stayed there?

The AC (or my perception of it) worked just fine at the end of February when I was there. I was able to get the room quite cold, and then make it really hot again. (What can I say, I was still about 8 time zones whacked out, and couldn't figure out what to do at 4AM in the morning). However, the problem for me (and 1/2 of the hotel) was that some water was leaking on one of the floors, and somehow caused the fire alarm to go off every 45 mins for about 5 mins, all night long. Many people not happy, but certainly funny to watch. Overall, I liked the place though. http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/smile.gif

I am posting this to alert the folks who are considering the Hiltons in Europe (Paris/Rome) for an upcoming vacation.

The issue at hand last year was that the hotel had an antiquated HVAC system and did not intend to replace it. I was only alerting the folks that were considering the hotel that there was a "hidden" issue.

The hotel did admit this problem had recieved numerous complaints and also explained trhat they did not intend to upgrade the A/C.

I had a similar experience as mymiles2go for my March stay. The AC works just fine, but the water was leaking on my floor (7th flr) so the fire alarm was going off couple times all night (our 1st night there). But, after that, everything was working for the other 3 nights, so I think they fixed the problem. Besides that, it was a nice stay.. We had a great view room facing the tower and the hhonors desk service was great! Def. will recommend for others to stay there.

I've checked in early there: they were just fine with it (but I've had either gold or diamond status, too) when they've had rooms available. *Once* I had to leave my luggage and come back ----- oh well! Paris is a great place to kill a couple of hours....

Yup - The same night, March 2nd. And also the same floor, 7, also facing the tower (via facing the river), and yup, the service desk was great, especially after my briefcase was stolen on the RER from CDG (everything from briefcase to cell phone, PDA, etc..), they were incredibly helpfull.

We just returned from a wonderful week at the Paris Hilton. Rather than repeat what has been previously posted and can be accessed in the archives, I will post info that is specific to our stay and other info I did not remember being previously posted. Please forgive me if I duplicate something covered in a prior post.

I made my GLONP reservation last year when I was GOLD. Due to curtailed travel last year, I am now Silver. I did not contact the hotel before we left the US to request anything special. We traveled with our 13 year old daughter and had a confirmed request for a Deluxe Room with a rollaway bed and approval for a third person in the room.

We arrived at the hotel about 7:30 PM and were cheerfully received at the reception desk. Although I am now Silver, we were treated like GOLD! They prepared a "Gold Hhonors" card valid for three people for continental breakfast for 6 days. We were told that the Continental Breakfast was 20 euros per person and that we could supplement the bill for an additional 8 euros per person for an "American" breakfast. We were told that should we be charged for breakfast, show the card upon check-out and a "rebate" will be made. This was good advice because we were indeed charged for every breakfast, and several times for American when we only had Continental. Allow enough time to settle your bill (which was done cheerfully and the breakfast charges were removed without argument) before you leave. The hotel can be busy in the mornings and it may take some time to get to the reception desk.

Our room was waiting for us, 6th floor, almost the center of the building (but not opposite the elevators) with a balcony and an Eiffel Tower view. We were also opposite the municipal soccer field and my daughter enjoyed watching the soccer matches in the evening.

There was a metal tin of butter cookies from Maxim's waiting in the room with a note from Geraldine Dobey, the Manager which read, "I am delighted to welcome you to the Hilton Paris and I trust your stay with us will be most enjoyable."

By European standards, the room was quite large, even with the rollaway bed placed at the immediate foot of the king sized bed. If the rollaway was not there, the room would have been spacious. The furnishings were older, but in good condition. The bedding (including the pillows) was very nice and even the rollaway was very comfortable. The bed had a duvet in lieu of a top sheet and blanket.

The towels were HUGE and bathrobes were provided (with a kind note stating that if you wanted one as a souvenir, they would be pleased to provide one for 80 euros)and changed with the towels. The tub was large with a detachable shower head, large mirror with built in magnifier, hair dryer, voltage converter in the wall that accepted American style plugs (worked great for recharging my digital camera battery). Complimentary toiletries were very unique; shampoo and conditioner in a "test tube" type bottle and rack. Wash cloths were in a sealed plastic bag.

There were two sitting chairs, a table, desk, nightstands, mini bar, two small dressers (four drawers total in the room, plus the nightstands) and a closet with mirrored doors. There was no balcony furniture, but I saw others using the room chairs on the balcony to sit in the evening.

We had turndown service every evening, which meant the towels were replaced, the bed turned down, and a note indicating the next day's weather with chocolates placed on the pillow. We received a different English language paper every morning, including USA Today and the Wall Street Journal, and two from England.

The restaurant has two levels. We entered on the upper level, which is accessed through the lobby. The buffet that is set up upstairs is rather bland, with a few bread choices, cold cereal, juice, a limited selection of cut fruit, yoghurt, and condiments. Coffee, tea, or hot chocolate are brought to the table upon request. We ate breakfast upstairs the first day because we did not know there was another buffet downstairs, which is accessed by going to level -1 on the elevator, or walking down a spiral staircase.

The buffet downstairs is much more interesting with a variety of fresh fruit, dried fruit, cold meats and cheeses, often several types of cold fish, many more bread selections, a wider variety of cereals, a toaster, and an omelet station, waffles, assorted hot breakfast meats, potatoes, stuffed tomatoes, etc. The room is brighter and a more pleasant place to sit, with smoking and non-smoking sections. Definitely ask to sit downstairs, or walk in through Level -1.

The hotel is very close to the Eiffel Tower, The C line of the RER, and the BIR HAKEIM stop of the number 6 Metro. It is walking distance to Rue Cler (a great area) and there are several good brasseries nearby. We really enjoyed one on Ave Sufferen called, "Sufferen." I think it was about #84. Excellent oysters and other seafood. We also really liked a Lebanese restaurant near the metro stop called, "Samaya" 31, be de Grenelle.

Is it in a "great" location? Not really because it is a metro ride with at least one line change to get most anywhere, or one stop on the RER if you want to stay on the left bank.

Ideally, I would rather be in Saint Germain , St. Honore, or Marais because you could walk almost anywhere. However, the neighborhood is very upscale, and on a GLONP, how can you beat a six "free" nights in Paris at a clean, modern hotel with breakfast and turndown service? It is also closer to the airport, which means a less expensive cab ride. Our ride back to the airport at 8AM on a Saturday was 25 minutes long and with baggage fees, 42 euros.

If you are traveling with kids, (or not) we found the Catacombs to be a fascinating place to visit (and great on a hot day). Adults are 5 euros to enter, under 18 free. Only open 2-4 pm Tues-Fri, Sat/Sun 9-11 and 2-4

If you need a fast, inexpensive place for lunch that is pretty centrally located, the Cafeteria at the Louvre is accessible without paying admission (as are their bathrooms). We found the food (including a salad bar) very good, generous portions and very reasonable. They also have a self-serve ice machine and a cold water dispenser in the dining area with pitchers you can fill up and bring back to the table.

Another transportation consideration is an "all day" pass on the Batobus, which is a boat service that runs up and down the Seine, stopping at 8 popular stops allowing unlimited on/off privileges. At 10 euros per person, it is not cheap, but could replace a Bateaux ride and provide a fun way to get around. First boat is 10 AM near the Eiffel Tower. www.batobus.com (http://www.batobus.com)

Just checked into the Paris Hilton. As a Diamond, we did not get a room with a view, but we got a large mini suite.

A complimentary bottle of wine, a tin of cookies, and a small tray of cookies were in our room. The same wine is served in the Exec Lounge so we didn,t open our bottle. The lounge had nice hors d,oeuvres and champagne, wine, beer, and hard liquor. The lounge has a great view of the Eiffel Tower.

It,s great to have internet access in the Business Center, but the French keyboard takes some getting used to.

Will file a full report when we get home. The weather is beautiful - hot and sunny - around 27 degrees centigrade. Off to the Riviera soon where it is 40 degrees C.

I spent 7 nights at the Hilton Paris from 04/03 - 04/10. Here are some thoughts about the property.

I was origionally supposed to check in on the 2nd, but due to getting bumped off of my Delta flight (Check out the Delta forum for my thread regarding my bump problems). After having been bumped, I called the Diamond desk, had them reschedule my GLONP to start on the 3rd. I also added an extra night using the 'Easter Special' rate, of 99 Euro / night!

Got to the hotel at about 10:00 AM. They took our luggage out of the taxi for us, and handed us a ticket. We stoped by the front desk since we did not know where the lounge was. They said that our room was not yet ready, but that it should be in an hour or so. We asked if we could wait in the lounge, of course sir was the reply.

We went up to the lounge, had a couple of drinks, met a couple of fellow travelers (Who we ended up actually hanging out with a bit (Hi Adam & Jenna if you read this). They put us in room 906 (Lounge is on the 10th floor). Ninth floor is a smoking floor, and the room stank. I called down, they said that they could move us in a day or two (we were going to be at the new property at the Arc De Triomph until the flood). We took a little nap.

The lounge had a decent breakfast every morning, good crossants, cheese, turkey, salmon, and some pork thing I stayed away from, and fruits and breads. During the day, the lounge had drinks (Black label scotch) Champagne, and other things, though I stuck to the champagne and scotch. It had a beautiful view of the Eiffel tower. I watched the tower every morning while we had breakfast. Lounge staff was friendly, and helpfull.

The Business center had 1 of 3 computers working, this was a bit dissapointing, but we only used it a few times. Had to wait for some very rude people only once. Rest of the time, the line for the computer moved quickly.

The rooms:
As afformentioned, room 906 stunk like smoke. The issue appears to be that the only rooms with an tower view are on the 1 side of the building. That entire side of the 10th floor (Non-smoking floor) is taken up by the lounge, some little meeting areas, and what appears to be one suite.
906 was a renovated room (I think the entire 9th & 10th floors have been completed). It had a king size bed, a balcony, a little desk, and a couple of chairs. The bathroom had a MARVELOUS shower in it, good water pressure, a bidet (Never could bring myself to use it), and a decent sized sink.

Monday morning we moved to room 912 (acutally, they moved all of our stuff for us while we were out at Versai). This room was much better, also renovated, different types of chairs, same balcony, only difference was the bathroom was a smidge smaller, no bidet, and the shower was one of those hand held thingies, same pressure though. They had actually given us the choice of that, or a suite without an tower view. I saw the suite, it was nothing to speak of on the 5th floor, we stuck with the tower.

The Conceierge staff was marvelous. Diddier helped us with about every facet of our time there in Paris. He recomended a couple of marvelous resturants. We loved it. The others were fine as well, but we liked him from the start, and stuck with him.

Other thoughts:
The resturant was ok, food was over-priced like everything in Paris, but not bad, not great. We had a picnic in the room one night and ordered up a couple of things, the rest we got from local bakery, and chesse shops (1 block down the street to the right of the hotel (Down Ave De Sufferin) as you come out).

One of the women at the front desk looks just like the Charicter Mandy from the TV show West Wing.

Got charged 5 Euro for opening the minibar, they removed the charge without questioning.

The lounge was a great bennefit. We must have had 6 bottles of champagne while there (Was our honeymoon after all).

Conceirge staff arrainged for a taxi back to the airport that took credit cards.

Overall impression, this hotel was just fine, located VERY nicely, and worth the GLONP.

Let me know if you have any questions.

Edited because I messed up the room #'s.

He mentioned he was looking at the Tower, so I assume that's the one he was at. Not sure if the "new" Hilton is open yet.

BTW, I also stayed at the Paris Hilton (Tower) last year, and it was a highlight of our trip. I'd go back in a heartbeat.

I love the Paris Hilton...yes, from the outside it is a bit bunkerish looking, but the location, the Club Floor, the close Metro, the staff, the view of the Tour Eiffel, the bidets...they all just add up to a great way to spend some hard-earned HHpoints.

We had a great 7-day stay a few years ago followed by a trip down to Avignon. One of the highlights was Techgirl and her groupies showing up in the Club...we had hugs and kisses all around and then headed out into the Paris night...too much fun! I'm plotting a return to Paris soon and a stay at the Hilton.

how many points for that property now - 150K or 175K?

Do golds get lounge access or a view? I think I would be more concerned with a view.

It was A GLONP2 so, 175K

As we learned more about the area, the lounge became less and less important.

Within a 3 min walk down Ave De Sufferin, there is a bakery, a cheese shop, a wine store, and a grocery store.

Once we figured out that they don't rip you off for water in the grocery, we went there, and bought 1.5 L bottles for .65 Euro cents. While, at a resturant we were being charged anywhere from 5 - 8 Euro dollars for .5 L bottles.

Decent champagne could be had for about 7 Euro / Bottle at the wine shop.

The cheese place, was great! We even brought a few pounds home with us. Though, those stores do stink

I stayed at the property about the same time on the 99 euro Easter Promotion. Not having any status in the Honors program, I got a room in the back (no Eiffel tower view).

My overall impression of the hotel is that it's a faded property in need of renovation. They do appear to be doing that renovation, however. My rooms featured fairly ratty 20-year-old decor but, presumably, the Tower-view rooms have already been refurbished.

The staff was friendly, however, and the doorman parked my car for only 10 Euros a day (free on Sundays). The free breakfast buffet thrown in on my rate was quite good (although you may not want a breakfast buffet in Paris).

The location is very good as the neighborhood is quite pleasant, the Eiffel Tower is 2 blocks away, and the very close RER and Metro stations give excellent access to all parts of the city.

You may also want to consider whether you want to stay in a hotel in Paris so dominated by American and Japanese guests. It's frankly a little weird. Not weird enough that I'd pass on another 99 Euro rate, however. But I don't think I'd pay a lot more than that.

I had a great time there last summer in conjunction with my birthday trip on Concorde. We were down the long wing off the lounge (1037) no balcony, but had a FAB view of the tower lighting up at night. I even have a shot of Freddie Jr. with the tower in the background. (http://f1.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/thezipper/album?.dir=/Freddie+Jr%27s+Travels&.src=ph&) Diedder was great at getting tickets to Moulan Rouge for us on short notice. Has the lounge been renovated? Being summer, we sat out there and watched the sun go down with snacks and LOTS of beverages before lite dinners. You are right about the shops on Sufferin, nice little shops and the homemade breads and cakes were a treat! Close enough to the central part of the city, and the subway is close by... how were the renovated rooms? It looked like they were going to be starting it after I left last year.

The lounge was very nice, I believe it must have been renovated. Comfy chairs, nothing looked at all worn.

We would have spent much more time in it if not for our balcony. We found that to be a great place to sit and watch the tower, have drinks before dinner.

The renovated rooms were nice, certainly nothing terribly fancy, but for a room in Paris, it was just fine. Had a King Size bed, minibar, desk, 2 chairs (Very comfy).

Good report... :-:

and good info - we stayed there April 12 - 14, and really enjoyed it. Our very spacious room / suite had been renovated, the lounge was new (if a tad small on a crowded day?), the food / wine shops and restaurants in the immediate area - even up Avenue de Suffren make it easy to avoid high hotel prices (those prices may account for folks calling it "Ave de Sufferin";).

I agree - kudos to Didier, and who cares what the hotel looks like from the outside - Eiffel Tower from the balcony, or you can entertain yourself with the football match often hapening down below too. A fabulous location for lots of walking to the good sites (Parc du Champs de Mars and Tour Eiffel, Hôtel National des Invalides, Ecole Militaire, Seine a stone's throw away (rive gauche), Le Trocadéro, Musée Auguste Rodin, Musée d'Orsay, Palais de la Découverte, Galeries Nationales, Pont Alexandre III, with Place de la Concorde, La Madeleine and Jardin des Tuileries- and so much more- a bit farther,) and the Batobus, Metro, RER and bus are very close too.

Do the rooms have LAN connections? If so, how much does it cost per day to use LAN in the rooms?

No LAN connections, as of mid March floors 1, 2 and I believe 8 up have WiFi
sounded as if they were planning to all floors.
Rate is if my memory serves me was 15 Euro per 24 hours.

My husband and I just had two wonderful 6 night reward stays at the Paris Eiffel. Checked in on Sept 30 to the just as requested king room with Eiffel Tower view. The room was on the HH 9th floor. Very large and comfortable with nice ylang ylang toiletries, great water pressure and easy to regulate hot (or hotter or hottest) water. Very comfortable mattress with feather pillows and comforter. Nice, very nice. Was met with a box of Maxim's chocolate. Excellent service staff:newspaper evey am, bottle of (free)Evian every morning, nice turn down service, friendly houskeepers. Bon jours from everyone you pass in the halls - good training by Hilton ^ Checked out on the 6th for three nights in Venice :D and left most of our baggage with the consierge which they stored for the three night for free ^ Arrived back for late checkin on the 10th and again given the as requested king room with Tower view, this time on the 8th HH floor. Same good things to say about this room and was met this time with Maxim's cookies. As a Gold, we were alowed access to the Exec Lounge from 11:00 am to close at 10:00pm. The champagne flows ^ ^ And I mean all day. So, so daytime food; mostly salads like potato or couscous but always bagettes and friut. Very good coffee any way you like it from a machine. Oh so efficient and friendly staff especially Mariana and Arthur. They kept the corks popping and the place meticulous. Pretty good evening canapes beginning at 7:00 until about 8:30 which was nice before going for dinner. The hotel restaurant offers a discount to guests but all I can vouch for is the cheeseburgher one night which was the only meal I had there but it was really a good cheeseburgher! Laundry service is very expensive - E5 for a tee shirt. Nonetheless we availed ourselves of this service as with our long stay (we were actually away for 18 nights)I had refused to pack all that underwear for my husband! So for tee shirts, boxer shorts and 3 or 4 pairs of slacks my laundry bill was about E100. What the heck the room was "free" and I certainly drank E100 of champagne every couple of days ;) I really compliment the international staff which was consistantly excellent and poised. The Egypt bombing happened while we were there and the Irish Football Team (and their fans) were also on premise - the staff was unflappable. Hilton lived up to their stated desire to make its hotel feel like your home away from. ^ home.

We were there for 4 nights last Fall, and I pretty much second everything you say. Had a wonderful time that we'll remember for many a year.

Nice to know that they treat Golds so well; I was there as a Diamond (we got in the lounge starting at about 6:00AM), and I try my best to maintain that status for overseas travel.

Working hard to get back to Paris (we have to settle for the Cavalieri this year :D ); maybe next year. C'mon, Hilton bonus offers!

I envy you, Slowingdog, I wouldn't mind heading to the airport in 2 weeks to return :( (and I just got home Sunday afternoon from Paris!)I can recommend that you ask the consierge about tickets for any venues you're considering. I was able to get tickets for the Turner, Wistler and Monet exhibit (E10 each with no added surcharge) and walked right in to the exhibit, past the line. If you're at all interested in art, it's a must see. We saw several awsome art exhibitions and visited some of the smaller museums. I won't add any details as if you're not interested I don't want to waste your time (if you are let me know and I'll post info). I didn't press for any breakfast vouchers although I have seen past posts about Golds getting vouchers for the buffet. I felt like the Tower view was an upgrade - most of the hotelrooms don't have the tower view. We had roomes 907 and 817. I'm sure that rooms ending in 1-20 have views (possibly 21). Those at the higher end (817) have a better view of the Tower. In any case, it's soooo close that you're about eye-level with the lower arches. Of course, the Lounge has a lovely view. Remember, in France they have a short workweek so I felt it best to leave a tip for the housekeeper each morning (there is also evening turndown and the houisekeeper also makes sure there are clean towel, etc). Are you interested in info on the local brasseries/cafes? Oh, and if you're water drinkers, pick up your Evian at the superette right around the corner on Ave Suffern.

If at all possible...always ... ALWAYS make sure you get a room where you can wake up in the morning with your partner of choice, lie in bed, and look out at the Tour Eiffel...there are not many more romantic ways to start yet another day in Paris than that... :D

As a Gold, we were alowed access to the Exec Lounge from 11:00 am to close at 10:00pm.

What about your breakfast?
When I went to this hotel (as a Gold) I was told the same that I couldn't use the lounge until 11:00am, no mention of breakfast. Also didn't get a particularly "upgraded" room. :( The hotel was not busy !

When I got home I complained to the hotel manager and Hhonors, and the manager invited us back for a free weekend break. (Which of course I accepted :D ) That time I did get full access to the lounge (including breakfast) and a room at the front with a balcony, views of the river and the Eiffel Tower. :)
Also got a personal letter from the manager on arrival, that's the one and only time that has happened, although from other threads I should be getting these more often :(

For me the "service recovery" was excellent, and kind of out-weighs the frustration at not getting what I should have the first time. ^

Although having now been to this hotel twice, I'd probably try one of the others the next time I go to Paris.

First time in Paris on a trip with husband and parents....two rooms, we were treated so well!! I am a Diamond and we each received the Maxim's cookies,a bottle of wine and fresh flower bouquets! It was great to "show off" in front of the parents and husband.
I loved breakfast...lots of lovely cheeses.
I would definatley stay here again.......................

This hotel sounds great, and I have lots of Hilton points to burn, but I have just one question. Has anyone also stayed at the Marriott Champs Elysee? That's the only hotel I have stayed in when in Paris, and its location seems unbeatable. Any comments comparing the two?

At the initial check-in I inquired if breakfast was included and told it wasn't included on the reward voucher. It wasn't stated on the voucher so I didn't take issue with it. I was already told I had a room with balcony and view so I considered that the room was upgraded. I'm new to HH this year and from other posts I've read, all stated that a HHGold would be upgraded or compenstated another way (breakfast?). Maybe I should have been better prepared regarding the Gold program - I would have been more assertive and probably had free breakfast. What the heck - great room and painless E's owed at checkout. And, of course, there's always next year :)

Many times it's a matter of who checks you in, I suppose, but glad you had a great time there anyway. My experiences at Hiltons in France have always been excellent, whether I have paid or had reward stays.

Howdy,

Well Mrs. Pakse and I just got back from two wonderful nights in Paris. A trip that was made special in no small part by the Paris Hilton and it's incredible staff.

Our plane touched down at 9:30am, we were checking into the hotel before 11:00am. We took the RER - it was great. I highly recommend it if you are traveling light (at most a small rollaboard you can hoist easily).

We were directed to the 10th floor to check-in.

We were invited to sit down, and the check in process was perfect.

I had a pre-paid internet rate ($420.81 USD) for two nights. We were upgraded from the "Smoking Hilton Guest Room, double bed" to a King non-smoking room with a stunning view of the tower. There were rooms avalible for 40k points a night as well. While I was checking in, another HH Diamond (very nice gentleman and his wife also doing a weekend in Paris) was also checking in on a 40k per night award stay. He was also upgraded to the 10th floor with lounge access.

There was a beautiful boquet of flowers in the room, a box of excellent chocolates, and a nice bottle of champaign. (There were also flowers in the bathroom). The room large; this would be large enough that some hotels might class it as a Jr. Suite.

The lounge breakfast consisted of crossoints, pastries, cold cuts, juice, etc... This was an excellent breakfast and Mrs. Pakse and I saw no reason to eat elsewhere in the morning as the lounge afforded us a wonderful view and a nice start to the day.

The turn-down service each night not only left additionall chocolet and champaign, but also did a complete room cleaning.

I was very impressed by the staff. They were flawless professionals.

Please feel free to ask me (PM or post) any questions you may have.

A huge thanks to out to all Flyertalkers on this one - without these boards, we would never have made this trip. It was a perfect, (and much deserved) second honeymoon for us. Specifically, I'd like to thank margaretlb, MBM3, MIKESILV, techgirl, MazdaMP, ILuvParis, kathnunley & flyinbob who were able to respond to my post about the Paris Hilton.

Keep the faith,

Dear Pakse and Mrs.P, so glad you had a wonderful time! You aready know that I had a great time in October, so much so that we're returning for another 12 nights in June. Because I felt that the staff was so superlative, I took the time to write a letter to the GM to tell her my impressions. My husband thought my letter too long (it was a page and a half) but I did not abridge it. Well, yesterday I received a lovely letter back informing us that she read my letter to her staff and that they greatly appreciated the affirmation for a job well done. She also advised that she has "personally handled" our June reservation and would do her best to upgrade us to a Tower view again. Now that's taking customer feedback seriously! I'm sure she would love to hear from other HH guests so, if you care to write, the GM is Geraldine Dobey.

I stayed there a few years ago with my GF, we had booked a "Tower View" room, but when we got to our room, the view of the tower was from leaning over the balcony and looking right. A call to the front desk got us changed to a Tower view so good, we could lay in bed and look at it. The old apartment building in front across the street from the Hilton is kind of an eyesore, but when laying in bed, you could not see it.:)

Try staying at the Hilton Champs Elysee next time, it's twice as good as the one you stayed at, and the staff is excellent as is the staff at the property you were in.

On the week-end of July 8/10, we organized a big party for our 10th wedding anniversary and having the appartment “occupied” by many visitors, we booked ourselves a room at the Hilton Tour Eiffel not far from home.

The hotel was rather full with tourists and visitors coming for the U2 concerts taking place in Paris at the same time, but service remained rather efficient and smiling.

It was rather funny for us to hear the luggage porter telling us “Enjoy your stay in Paris!”… :p

However long lines for checking in and out may be expected sometimes, as well as for breakfast. Concierge service was very efficient.

Our room was a deluxe room (exactly what we had booked), as well as the other rooms we had booked for friends. No upgrade for Silver and Gold carholders…

But we had the promised view on the Eiffel tower which was very nice.
No pictures from the room sorry since the camera broke down on that very day…

Room was bright and rather large. Small bathroom but brand new shower/taps.
Toiletries were readily available and supplied every day.
No evening turndown service.

The hotel has been partly refurbished, but our floor could have done with a bit more repairs (specially the corridor).

Excellent bed – we had a good sleep, but to my big surprise, they did not change the bed clothes every day… I did not see the special card “do you want it to be changed every day” in the room…

Room was a bit noisy (traffic outside), but also you could hear some noise from other rooms upstairs, doors banging, etc…
After some similar experiences at other Hilton hotels, I think they should put more attention on this subject… :td:

On Saturday July 9th, we got a nice surprise from the management and enjoyed a chilled bottle of Nicolas Feuillatte champagne in our room. Merci beaucoup Madame Geraldine! ^
We loved it very much, specially as this Champagne brand was the one we had 10 years ago for our wedding and of course we drank it again for our 10th anniversary !

All in all, a rather good hotel, although very crowded on that week-end.
Our American and Italian friends staying there at the same time also enjoyed it.

Stayed at the Hilton Paris last year (not so recently). Award stay for 6 nights (or could have been 5), as a gold was upgraded to a room with a great view of the Eiffel Tower. Given breakfast in the downstairs (basement) restaurant and lounge access for the entire day (except breakfast). Only Diamonds have unlimited access to the lounge (and of course the people staying on the exec floors).

On the weekends, as a Gold, they let us have breakfast in the lounge, trust me the downstairs restaurant breakfast is much better. The lounge has a great view, and a tiny little narrow balcony, but very Parisian in feel. Lot's of snacks and drinks.

This was my only stay there, but I felt they were very generous with the Gold benefits.

Stayed at the PH for 3 award nights in May during the French elections. As a Diamond, I got a suite on the 10 floor along with a nice bottle of wine and very nice chocolates each day. As someone that has never been to Paris, I must say I fell in love with the city. The PH is across the street from the Eiffel Tower and does have their exec room on the 10th floor which over looks the Tower and the Seine. It's 1 block to the yellow line metro station. All in all, for me it was a very good use of points.

As a FYI, there was a very nice seafood restaurant down the Avenue de Suffren about 10 min walk which has a remarkable menu. I didn't eat once in the Hotel, though I did make liberal use of all the free wine and beer all day long. :D

Depending on what you want to do in the city, the PH is great location as the yellow metro line follows the Seine and will drop you off in the Latin Quarter, the Louvre and near the Museum d'Orsay.

I'm in the middle of a 5 nt paid (300+ Euros/nt) stay at the PH and would rate it "so-so." The hotel claimed not to have my HH info at the time of check-in despite it showing up on my online account for weeks. Luckily the agent saw my prominently placed Diamond card (next time I'll tape it to my forehead I guess!) and disappeared for 10 minutes trying to find a better room for me. I ended up in an Exec room on the 8th floor. The air conditioner is very poor, housekeeping services are mediocre, no welcome gift, no fitness center. The Executive Lounge has a very nice view (and is seemingly smoke free) however the drinks and snacks are not oft replenished (for instance, my collegue finished the bottle of port our first evening and it has yet to be replaced...1 plate of cheese brought out per evening so far, which is gone in about 15 minutes.)

The location is convenient to the Bir Hakeim metro stop, and near the Seine for some beautiful and refreshing early morning runs, but I'm still on the prowl for the perfect Parisian hotel.
