Marriott Rewards (including Ritz-Carlton) - MR posting quirks .....

I have noticed a weird thing on the MR account summary viewpage:
a few days after a stay the "current point balance" flickers a few time over a 48hr period reflecting alternatively the balance prior to this last stay and the updated balance .....
all the while the last stay is not appearing in the list and the "night stayed this year" counter is not updated ....
after a couple days of this, the whole thing settles on the right value with the last stay credited properly in all the places (miles, list, nights) .....
I haven't tried to relay this situation to any of the toll free lines at Marriott as this is probably too exotic of a problem for a customer service rep !
I am curious to see if I am the only one to see this behavior .....
and if any of you are related to Marriott's IT dept maybe you can shed some light on this !

Yep, I've seen it. The summary will show the new nights and points, while the detail shows the old nights and points. It takes about 24 hours to catch up.

Yes, I've observed the same thing.

I have noticed the same too. There might be 2 databases or something of the sort (one for the summary and another for details) and it just takes them a day or two to sync up. Just trying to guess here...

Pierre,
My recommendation would be to email Marriott Rewards to report the problem. You can do so by going to the "Contact Us" link on MarriottRewards.com or by clicking on the link below.

Thanks,

Chris,
Thank you for the suggestion.
My past experience with the email based customer service at Marriott has been less than timely ... It took 3 weeks to get an acknowledgment (not a correction) about fixing a point credit mistake..
Nevertheless I sent a request today about the point counter flickering issue....
I'll keep everyone posted on the developments !

Yes, I have also experienced and observed the same as what has been mentioned. I find that Marriott Rewards points take a very long time to track automatically into the account.
In the past, I've had to call the service centre to get the past stays credited to the account manually. I have also noticed that the Platinum Arrival Gift 500 MR points is not always credited to the account.
I also wish, Marriott Rewards revamps their programme structure to reflect nights and/or stay for qualification and renewal. Just like SPG's structure.
The best hotel loyalty programme for tracking has to go to Starwood Preferred Guest.
