I want to book the online web specials with SAA from JNB to CPT in February. Prices are going for R170 for the fare, plus about R700 for taxes. Still a bargain! Problem is, I only have foreign credit cards and no friends with SA cards willing to let me use them... :(
If I call SAA in the morning, will they be leniant with me? Any suggestions? What can I do, or am I at a loss?
Thanks for any help... must run now!!!

Sorry that I can't answer your question but ZAR700 on a ZAR170 fare seems exhorbitant. If you don't mind flying another carrier, www.kulula.com have fares JNB-CPT of ZAR496 one-way including taxes and I'm sure you can use foreign credit cards
Edited to add - just had a look at www.flysaa.com and the taxes are in fact ZAR160 making this a real bargain. Have you tried to make the booking using your OS credit card? On the booking page they ask for a phone number but not a billing address and the tickets are e-tickets - maybe it will process anyway. I'd try it out myself but this fare expires Feb 28 and I'm looking to fly CPT-JNB on March 9 :(

A lot of the special fares on SAA web are restricted to the domestic market. I have been lucky in the past with a leniet agent, but I had to fax them my CC details and was told that this was a one-time favour... Most of the time the offers will not work with a foreign CC.
Have you tried to access the SAA website for your region to see if the fare is available there too?
klulula.com is an accquired taste :D

Making a correction, sorry...
I should be more precise... the airfare for 2 is R600 and taxes are R789 also for 2. I agree it is outrageous that the taxes are often more than the actual fare, but such as the way with cheap fares. My 136 pound fare on BA LHR-HKG had about 80 pounds in taxes. :D
Problem with kulula is that it's oneway, so SAA is still cheaper (at least in this special instance). I have only managed yo fly SAA and BA within SA, thankfully.
What is an OS credit card? (escuse my ignorance)
I've just finished speaking to SAA, and they have made a booking for me subject to approval by their payment department, but the agent was quite certain it should go through okay (especially since we are residents).

OS is OZ for foreign :) because if you are in OZ foreign is OverSeas - there isn't such a thing as over the border. (unless you are in the Australian Antarctic Territory I suppose ;) )
