Many thanks to JFE re the Circuit City -- FAR Toys posting. I was too late on that one, but since he mentioned Slick Deals, I went to them today and saw that there was a FAR with respect to kitchen utensils at Linens N Things and what was more, one could actually make $$ on the deal!
Of course, that was secondary to my going thru the AA miles mall and earning Double AA miles -- unfortunately Linens is not one of the Treshold bonus vendors like Cirucuit City is, but hey, you can't have everything -- but now it may be that the rebate form that was linked to this deal -- which does not bear a Linens N Things URL -- may have been doctored from a real rebate which expired right after Thanksgiving.
I don't blame JFE, of course, but I do think that if the website is going to inject into the stream of commerce a web link and a possible deal, they ought to have it checked it out a bit better. I also think that they should track down the perpetrator of this hoax and report them to the criminal authorities.
I am quite confident that I can cancel my orders without much trouble, but it really is a let down that someone would take the trouble to deceive us in this way. :td:
By the way, I don't mean to single out Slick Deals, as there were many sites with this offer -- they should get together and back track just who it was who initially tipped them off to this "steal."
Sometimes when it appears too good to be true, it turns out that way. :(
