I just played the game as well and earned the 10,000 miles -- received the confirmation shortly after too! ^
I like how it allows you to replay the game if you don't earn the full amount on the first attempt. Is Delta getting that desperate for business or are they just in a generous mood for the holidays? Anyway, this will top off my account nicely. :D

There apparently is some conflict with the site and Norton Internet Security. I had to temporarily disable NIS for the site to work.
Also, I accepted the Marriott Vacation Club offer only to receive the following message:
There are currently no packages available for this state.
Please click to view available offers.

Otherwise, 10 minutes for 10k miles is a worthwhile investment (now to see if the junk mail increases).

To those that mentioned they received the 10,000 Skymiles. Did your e-mail specifically say you won 10,000 miles? I played the game getting all the questions correct and received a confirmation e-mail. However, the confirmation e-mail just says that I won Skymiles. No mention of how many. Fine print at the bottome reads "Earn up to 10,000 miles".
No idea how many miles I've won. Any chance they already gave out the maximum number of 10,000 awards and now will be rewarding less?

There is an online image at the top of the confirming email (if you haven't disabled the ability to read them) that states the number of miles won - fills about half of the computer screen. I assume that, since the game has ended for now, that a quota of miles to be earned was filled. Glad I got in early - last evening and got 10,000 each for 5 accounts <self and relatives>.

I'm not sure what kind of questions you all recieved but I think I would have gotten 10 of 10 tripping on mushrooms. They Qs were like:
You can earn points on Delta buying your mom flowers - True or False
Pretty much if you assume Delta had tie in that the questions inferred and knew that Delta was an airline and not a petting zoo you'd get 10 of 10 from my group of Qs?

I played four times (one for each member of the family) and only missed one question...You receive 10K bonus miles for signing up for an Amex standard, Amex gold or Amex platinum.
There's a different bonus for each type of card and I did not have that info in my head so I missed. The correct answer was gold.
I could have gone back and replayed but I was already late to work! :)
So my wife only got 9K miles! :)

What were the tough ones?
My first question, before I knew what to expect, was this:
What is a Delta Black Koozie?
a) a kind of Apaloosa horse
b) a variety of squirrel native to the Mississippe River delta
c) a beverage insulator / holder
Well, I've never been to a Crown Room of flown DL first, and back in Y you don't get can holders with your beer. But Googling failed to find anything that matched (a) or (b), so I tried (c), which was correct.

I'm in the same boat. "Won" the 10k points, converted to miles, but two or three days later...still no e-mail. I e-mailed Delta to ask about it, I guess it's a wait game for now. Altho, I (a HUGE mistake, I know...) There is a possibility (no guarantees) that the message was cached on your computer. If running IE 6, Check Tools-->Internet Options-->(under Temporary Internet Files)-->Settings-->View Objects (search for Delta items dated the day you did the game). Do this while working offline, either through File-->Work Offline or by turning off your modem. Warning, depending on your settings and your visits to Delta.com, there may be many Delta objects to check.

skye1, did you at least write down your SM#? I didn't print the temp SM card either, but I did copy down the assigned FF#. I figured I would able to check it online and see if those miles posted.
I did, however, find out from Delta FAQs that the enrollment package will only be mailed in 4-6wks (?) after your earn mileage credits. Well, here's my questions for your brilliant minds:
1. Does the game I just played days ago count for mileage credit? I won 10K with email confirmation.
2. If it did, assumed my 10K will be posted in 8 weeks (i.e. by 2/4/05), when will my membership card/enrollment package be sent? Another 4 weeks from early Feb, if I would receive it at all?
Very confused but not concerned now. :)

I dunno, why are there so many Marathon Men?
I figure they are trying to get us to get 10k miles and then feel the need to use partners like points.com to transfer them and thusly pay the fees to do so.
A few references to that partner were woven throughout the offer and the survey.
I printed everything out I did for all family members for this deal. I figure after the 8 weeks I have to wait to get these miles, there will SURELY be glitches in posting them. I bet DL got swamped and like most marketers, partly regrets some of its own self-made monster here...
BA did this with the jaguar thing and who knows how that worked out but I finially used the airline once because I had miles, and another person in my party had to buy a ticket to fly with me. So maybe DL thinks something like this may happen for them.

desire leads to greediness leads to unhappiness...just remember that.
Now I'm not saying that it's OK for a company to do a promotion then ditch it, but I'm sure DL and partners do not regret such marketing promotion that will spur people to talk about and possibly fly DL.

Dec 20, 04, 3:39 pm
I didn't have a Delta account before this promotion, so I went and set one up before I played the game. Then, I saw that you didn't have to have a Delta account; it would let you create one after you played. So, I played for my wife and daughter. It wasn't until the latter that I noticed, after you filled out all their information and created the account, you had to click another button labeled "convert points into miles." I played again for my wife, and then I got the e-mail confirmation. If you were creating the account after the game, you may have missed the button, and could be out of luck.

well you can be as cynical as some of the other naysayers I have met in this place (and most are not, but there are some indeed) but I tend to find that most promos have issues. many work for me all the time, and I did get the confirmation emails, but the difference between you and I is quite obvious now: I care about those who did the deal and somehow did NOt get the email.
They I will assist or suggest ideas to. I think you should do the same--and begin by not suggesting you know what I want just because we all know there WILL be people who were left out in the cold on this deal without real reason.
the conf email had errors in it for sure, meaning, some should have gotten it that did not. We were lucky. Does that make them losers? gee, I hope not, because if it happens to you, it would say the same thing.

What in the heck are you saying: "...as cynical as some other naysayers..." I said "be optimistic". I have FAITH that Delta WILL give the miles. You are the cynical naysayer, you are figuring that we will not get the miles, and you're looking forward to doing battle. You need to read a dictionary and get off the endorphins. You will help your fellow flyertalker with screenshots from your play... almost fraud, but I see what you're saying. I don't think we were LUCKY to get the email. All that followed through did get it, at least all 20 or so people that I know did. The only reason people would not have got the confirmation email is because they failed to click on the final page. I almost did it myself, but caught it right before I went to another site. It was easy to miss, so that's why some got it and others didn't.
I didn't want to get into a pissing match with you on the subject, so this will be my last squirt:
You say above, "...but I tend to find that most promos have issues. many work for me all the time..."

Gosh, I hate having to defend myself because someone thinks I did fraud and decides to broadcast that in a live public forum without totally understanding the direction I am heading. Well, that happens in here a lot but what can ya do?... We will have to chaulk it up as a possible miscommincation error.
Look, I don't want to get into a pissing match with you or anyone either. I think from the outside, it is both of us who appear to be cynical or ready to do battle--with each other! So this post is going to be not directed at you anymore, and I am done playing against another FTer in this way. This was supposed to be a freakin' Delta game with a lot of points at stake! I want to have us both un-angrily post at each other, and go forward from here without any more of this, ok?
Ok. I figured we'd both agree on that. I mean, let's not argue and bicker over who killed who.
I am also having no endorphin rush. I am also not passing off info suggesting that my data belongs to someone else who did not particiapte in this promo/
My ideas are simply this:
1) Yes, I too know about 20+/- people who were successful with this and they followed thru.
2) I noted that when doing the ones for my family, you had to click thru to the end and then you should get the email. BUT...
3) In doing the 4 members of my family, some on different PCs at different times of the day, things did not always work out so easily all the time. I found that even when doing everything right, a couple of things did take place:
(A) In one case, the last page never came up when something must have hiccupped in the Internet connection or something, so we saw no email and then had to go back and play the game again. Good thing we thought of doing that. I bet many people did not think of that.
(B) In one person's play, we did everything correctly, noticed no problems, and yet we found no email at the end, so we played again. There was no reason for this person to fail and they had gained all 10k miles in the game, but it did fail and so by playing again. To do this, we reset it for that player because the game allowed you to do this. You could play as many times as you like so we guessed this would work. Got the email after the second time but it did take a bit longer to show up. And that could have been Yahoo's fault in receiving it, but one never knows.
(C) Experience with previous promos of this nature shows me that you must print things out and keep records of them just in case--at least until you see your miles post. I have gone further and offed to share info with other people who did this legitimately. I would be sharing the parts that all of us would have seen, which are the scenes of the game itself or a copy of my email or the initial sign in page where one would have put in DL data.
Now, maybe that action alone is something a person does when they worry too much or something, but I know things can go wrong. Many things work for me (showing that I do have successes and do have luck with this crap, and many things fail or have issue that involve faxes or phone calls to airlines. I HOPE they don't, I play miles games on the premise that they won't, but it is almost funny (in a sarcastic way) that nearly every promo is laced with many things that just plain fail for many people for no reason at all. For this, I look forward to solving the issue for others or myself in case that does occur. Not to say others cannot take care of themselves, but I find most people rely on these things too much and when something does happen, they have nothing to show for it. That's a shame. I think marketers make mistakes but I also think people should keep records of things. If I were running the DL promo, I might not fault someone 10,000 miles if they happen to not keep good records, but I think it is a good idea to do so because that is how much one could lose in this case. (I think a great promo would be to see how many people do keep records, hence proving loyalty to the airline somehow). I think we should be able to rely a bit more on this stuff and I do not think it is wrong to complain when you did not receive the email. I do not assume that always means that the USER must have done something wrong. It's not always user error!
Example:
Let's say your own sister does everything correct on this promo on time and in full. She prints nothing out figuring that she should naturally get the miles in 8 weeks. Then 8 weeks pass and even though she did it all, she gets nothing. When she finally reaches the right person at Delta, they say, "Ok, sis, just fax in something from the promo." She has nothing to show them though. Then you come over and say, "What, you didn’t get the email? Did you print this page out?" (You show her the first page of the promo where you first sign in, and you happened to print that out with your details in it before hitting submit). She says, "No, what email?" Or, worse, yet, she HAS the email but still gets nothing! Could happen. Happens with Kellogg’s, Mypoints, and countless other big and small gigs I won't both mentioning in here because this post is getting too long anyway. But you get the idea... She has to show DL something showing she did something for them to do anything for her. If they have something from her, they can at least try to help her. A note or letter may help as well. Maybe it won’t help, but it's worth a try! (And how many times have we been lucky and gifted to run into a nice CSR who says, "well, I see you have been thru a mess of a time with this one, so I will just credit you a couple thou anyway..." Could happen, has happened, and probably will. I am not saying people should abuse this, but man, if you did the promo and think you should get the miles, then by all means, fight for them! If you are nice to the CSR when doing so, it may pay off! If you have the pieces of the promo you need to do this, you are a step ahead in that process.)
What I am suggesting is that people simply need the guts of the game they actually played--further proof that any of us could have seen when doing this--that show we did something. A copy of the email from another member even, would show DL that you knew what should have come, and so they should look for your copy on file. A copy of the play pages (which changed slightly when doing the game again and again, but were generally the same basic questions and layout) would show DL that you had the savvy to print the guts of this stuff out and thus, would also show these people have been paying as much attention to this as you did it.... They don't need to know that someone did not really keep their copy, especially if his copy and her copy are basically showing the same thing.
My email and my initial sign up page are different, but the guts of the game--the steps of all screenshots along the way--are universally the same for everyone who played it! THAT is what I am printing out here! That is what I am offering up. Copies of the guts. And if someone needs to show what the promo is by also including a copy of the email or the original play sign up page, then that is OK to pass along even if it has my name on it.
THE REASON FOR THIS IS BECAUSE WE ALL KNOW THE AIRLINES HAVE SO MANY PROMOS, THEY OFTEN NEED TO SEE A COPY OF THE VERY THING THE CUSTOMER DOES NOT HAVE IN ORDER TO GET THE PROPER CODE OFF OF IT.
Furthermore, based on previous experience with these things, I strongly believe it all comes down to the theory that DL needs to see who was paying attention to this and who was not. If they see you were paying attention, they will probably be more inclined to manually give you the miles or at least give it an attempt on your behalf. And this would be for people who DID in fact do the promo. I did and so did my family members. We did it all correctly. There is no fraud unless this becomes a mass exodus and involves people who hadn’t even complaining about this stuff in this thread to begin with! I have had 3 people PM me. All of them made it clear that something is wrong in their play of the promo and yet, they claim to have done everything. All of them were mentioning an issue before I ever mentioned any of my possible way through it. Several other people here have had issues as well. They are not fraud-doers but many did not get the email or something. Are we saying they are committing fraud just because they did not know as much as you and I to check and recheck that the email came? NO! Am I committing fraud just because I am helping people on understanding why it is necessary to print things out and being prepared to fax to Delta? No. You seem to have something inside telling you to check and to be more in tune with this stuff... Isn't my version just another version of that gut feeling or experienced method of doing promos? I say it is.
The saying, "you pick your battles" is used when someone decides to pursue these sorts of things. 10,000 DL miles is worth fighting for if, in fact, one did plan to receive those miles. Yes, this one was free and dropped on our lap with less effort than most, but should that automatically invalidate the needs or concerns of the many people who did not win the game? Not at all. These people, we have to believe, did everything we did. It's as if the fact they did not keep records is why they have the problem to begin with. I wonder if that is Murphy's Law or cynicism? I dunno which, but I am offering to help if it is needed and it costs me nothing. To know that something will go wrong with some people's promos here is not cynical... that's just knowing how many miles things work. I do think it is a battle we will have to fight. I don't necessarily think you and I will have to do battle with DL, but certainly, many others may have to. And yes, I look forward to it if it should come. If the airline screws up my 4 family members and I can show them I did everything correctly, and if it screws up the games some other friendly posters in here played, then we will be able to show them we have done this game by faxing things in.
For all posters reading this thread, I regret if all of this got into a pissing match. I am just trying to help. I am going to assume now that CF is attempting the same thing from here on out. But let's not blame each other anymore. For those missing pieces of this puzzel, I am NOT inclined to say, "you lose!" and I will fax pieces if needed, but the advice in life is to keep records of everything you do--if the results really might matter in the long run! This is not a bad thing to practice. I am sure most FTers would agree but many won't publically admit it. I do.

Hey CF, I did mean that you and I had PMd and worked out the fact we should not be in a pissing match. I know we may dissagree on some posts but that's fine. I am not upset. And I know we may dissagree about some things in my post so I did not mean to imply that this was what was worked out... But I more recently posted my shut it comment to the other three people who later posted being nothing but wiseguys. I think they were out of line. It didnt even involve them and maybe they just did it because they have nothing better to do. Whatever. That's who I said Shut it to. Not you. I just hope they got all their miles too. Whatever.
Anyway, all that aside, I seems to have been proven wrong on some of my original gripe anyway, seeing as how many people have reported the miles have come in! I am glad we got these miles so quickly! (Well, I have not checked my wife's account yet)
I like how you said you are soooo mad that the miles came EARLY!
(;)) Now I have no cause to fight for too, I guess. :(
I think there will certainly be people in here who, despite doing things correctly, will have problems with their miles posting now or in 5 more weeks. In that case, they hopefully have a way to talk to DL and get some resolution. If not, my offer to fax commonly seen pages of the original deal still stands. then, if needed, they can try to ask DL based on what they show them of this deal.
happy holidays.

Wait for their next promotion -- I've gotten 21,000 miles from their promotions without having flown them once, and they were easy miles. Just remember to make a purchase through their shopping portal every once in a while to keep the miles active. Actually, I'm thinking of taking a few flights with them to get to 25K miles so I can get a free ticket. Alternatively, get their credit card and buy all your groceries, gas and stamps with it. With double miles, you can get to 25K fairly quickly.

My 7000 miles posted today. I did get a confirmation email but it said only "you have earned skymiles" and did not give a number. The highest score I received was 7000 with all right answers and I did retry several times (with and without taking the shortcut). I was not able to play again for my other half - the game had ended even though I tried right after finishing my play. So I received 7000 and my other half nothing- oh well. I am really happy with the 7000 miles but I am a bit envious of those who not only received 10K for themselves but also for their whole family. Luck of the draw.
I still check the "dash to the gate" site every time I log on. It still says that the game will reopen soon. Are others still checking it out regularly?

it is obvious to me that DL is simply trying to get us to do exactly what you say you will do! And that is good. Hence, good marketing with great promos works very nicely! They are also in partnership with those who allow transfer such as Points.com who could allow one to transfer 10k miles to some other person for a fee. Also good even if the fees are a bit hefty. I am actually considering this even though many here may know me as one to not necessarily like points.com for other reasons. BUT my wife, who flew Delta once in 4 years, now has only 10k and change, and I have 41k. If we transfer her 10k from this promo over to my DL account, we would have enough for one trip to Amsterdam. A ticket to fly there can cost anywhere between $250-$700 RT depending on the time of year.
It may just be worth spending money on the transfer!
On the otherhand, those who mention this game could come back have gotten me thinking I should hold out.
Now I have to play a new game:
When to make the choice on whether to pay to transfer miles or play the game again if it comes in due time. (I have my idine and flight and CC things already set up in other areas and for other airlines of equal importance so I do very little with DL...)
Need to book something for the early summer using miles on DL and partner airlines for 2 to AMS (expensive peak time) and so who can tell me anything about the frequency of this game offer?

Delta's promo dept can probably be found by calling CS and asking where to fax what. Then a short note plus your printouts of everything may help you. I have copies of all pages as well and would gladly fax to you or anyone any of the commonly seen pages from this promo that may be needed to further support similar occurances throughout. These pages would have been experienced by everybody who did this even if you had no printout of it, from the fill in page to the email.

...and of course, you will notice that the link from DL now states that the game is over, which is why I printed out all the pages of my offer before the link of the same offer was changed. Web links do that, which is why saving them often does not work. Moderators and airlines change links. In the case of FT, it appears the moderator simply cut ties to the link to the DL forum seeing as how the offer is no longer valid. That is a logical move. Changing links is not a bad thing, but because of it, people need to remember to print out what was on the link the day they visited it. When I first saw this offer, I not only also found this original source, but also printed out all the pieces of the entire thing and then ever page of the game. If you wish to have copies of it to show what you had done (assuming you had done the game but need to now fax to DL and prove it) then perhaps I could send to you.
