Can't quite believe this story (http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/europe/4070973.stm) hasn't been posted yet, but I can't see it here or on OMNI (I posted here as it's travel related, but mods feel free to move).

Imagine getting to your hotel, opening your bag, and finding 150g of semtex. Unbelievable...

Long discussion as you might expect on a well known pilot's forum ! (http://www.pprune.com/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=154564)

I particularly liked in there:

"From the BBC, the French authorities have failed to trace the misplaced plastic explosive and as a result have moved their country's alert status to the third highest possible...

The only two higher levels are collaboration and surrender..."

It's also been in the AF forum for a while now since it was AF planes that were searched.

You would think that someone would get fired over this, but if someone is that stupid and that high up in the police force already, they must be related to someone very powerful. So perhaps no one will get fired over this.

Two have faced some kind of reprimand. I don't know if that involved termination yet or not (although unlikely).

now honestly this makes me ashame to be French!!!
What kind of a moron would not write down the passenger name and Flight?
Honestly I was wondering about the intelligence level of the TSA, and other USA governmental agencies workers but now I will start to question the French police IQ as well! (shush now hopefully my cousin won't hear me saying that, he's a cop! ) :D :D
